Factory Perofrmance Package. Worth it?
I was considering getting the Factory Performance Package. It's $3,492 MSRP for 2004 V6 Coupe MT. Yes I know that it's expensive, but considering that my parents will be assisting with the payments for the car, I have to consider their opinion, and they would prefer that I have mods on the car that are covered under warranty
.
But I will still have to cough up the money for the package out of my own pocket, and also for the additional costs of installation (which I think is required to be done at the dealership). Who knows, the total including installation might be around $5,000 or more
. Then again, I like this body kit way better than many other aftermarket body kits because I prefer the aero kits that aren't so flamboyant.
Would it be worth it?
The Package:
Springs that reduce the ride height by one-inch (the car will be used for everyday driving too, so I think this would be perfect for me);
High performance shock absorbers;
Full aerodynamic under-body kit (front, sides and rear);
HFP 17" alloy wheels;
Rear wing spoiler;
Factory Performance interior and exterior badging (I plan to ask them not to put on the badging on the exterior, and I think I'll end up keeping the original shift ****, i think that one looks better anyway)
Yes I know that this package is considered mostly cosmetic : puts on flamesuit : I LOVE the way the aero kit looks as well as the rims, but it does change the suspension which makes it not strictly cosmetic
.

aren't the v6 6 speeds already in the 27-29 area...with the factory performance package, it'd be around 32-34ish? buy an evo or an sti instead...i bet the grin on your face will be much bigger...if i had that kind of money, I sure as hell wouldn't be buying an accord...( no offense)

hey said they were assisting...so he should have some say in what he pays for. if you have already looked at those cars ok, but it would be foolish not to when yoiu are in that price range...no one is forcing anything its just my opinion...they come stock running 13s...who needs upgrades right away?!

That's true, I could get an evo or an sti, but the thing is that i could get the ex v6 for about 25k w/o the performance package, so it'll actually be around 29-30k when you add it.
Those cars would be great to drive, but I need a car that will be comfortable all around and not just great for short drives or whatever. My friend has a wrx and he says that he already gets tired of driving it around for a long time since the ride is really firm. Then imagine the sti... They're great driver's cars but they're not all that great to drive every day everywhere you go. Since I live in southern CA, I need a car that'll be comfortable in gridlock traffic, since I'll be traveling to and from LA a lot (driving manual in traffic isn't as bad as everyone makes it seem).
I'm paying about 2/3 of the cost, so I have the last say. I have thought about getting luxury entry level cars (3 series, A4) but there's no way I can even get close to the options I would get with the Accord and comparable hp. I think the accord would be the best all around car for me (roomy, navi, leather, good engine, reliable, lots of mods out there).
I'm just debating if this package is really worth it. 3-5k is a lot of money...
p.s. damn i just found out a friend got a g35 coupe. coming in the dealer lot later today...

socal even.
He doesn't need awd and the poor evo/sti would be heatsoaked 24/7. Plus accord will be bulletproof reliable. The only other car I would choose over the accord is a 350Z, but the accord will still be great.

I work at a dealership and have driven the 6sp accord with and w/o the fact. perf. kit and can tell you that it definately makes a noticible difference in how the car handle. More responsive and a slightly stiffer ride, but not harsh. Makes an already fun car even better.
i'm not saying the fact kit is bad, but for that cash you could buy some fully adjustable tein coilovers (1k), whatever wheels and tires you want (1500), and still buy the aero kit from the dealer or pick one up used from one of the million honda websites out there (dealer prolly 900).
I dunno, 4-5k is a lot to drop on a package that isn't adjustable for ride height or stiffness like teins, that will stick you with wheels you'll probably get bored with quick, and will charge you for labor that would cost you 1/2 as much at any place other than a dealership (if you didn't want to just do it yourself)
just my $.02, but if that cash is coming out of your pocket anyways I'd rather buy better suspension & wheels and have cash leftover.

Yeah, the kit will definitely cost a lot of money. Well I haven't really looked into the performance package that much (as in calling the dealer for details), but I'm pretty sure that I'm not allowed to just buy the parts and do the installation myself. I'm also the type that prefers to get rims that are made from Honda, but that's just my opinion.
Maybe I can haggle my way so that I won't have to pay for installation at all, and just pay for the package ($3500). But I doubt that will happen.
Then again, maybe I should just opt out of the package altogether and use the money to pay for college loans
. But I'll be keeping this car for a really long time, so maybe I should just pay that money to make my car a bit more satisfying...

.......
i say go for it. the wheels are the 5 spoke gunmetal ones right???......at the NAIAS (det. auto show), i sat in an 04 v6 6spd w/ the HFP package........it was incredible.....looks soo good, and the interior is beautiful....the al/carbon bezel looks classy, and the aero kit is teh sex. for a daily driver, you dont need $1k coilovers ($1k for coilovers is not gonna buy you anywhere near the best).......

If your worried about any non-dealer installed parts voiding your warranty, you shouldn't worry (with the exception of a turbo/supercharger). Suspension mods done by others are generally totally accepted....just don't go massively low or you'll have balljoint/tire wear issues.
Get the aero kit factory; consider the wheel + etc. on the outside (though you can't finance them). I suppose "financing" is what it's all about really eh?

Haha, yeah, those rims are what got me. The moment I saw those rims, I just knew I will have to get the package when I get my accord. *Sigh* but 3-5k is a lot to be asking for... ugh I hate thinking about the price of that package. Every time it makes my stomach a little queasy. The shift ****, IMO, doesn't look to great though; i think i'll just stick with the older one (yeah i know this a pretty insignificant point
).
Is it real carbon fibre trim in the interior, btw? Someone told me it's fake

I think you should go in and talk to the dealer about a final price with the HFP package. They will probably work with you a lot, so you can get down to around 4gs total for the package. The more **** you buy, the more room you have to negociate with them.
