Default guys w/ jdm front install knowledge please help :D

Hey guys, i have my hid jdm front end from passwordjdm. And i'm in the process of installing it, but i have a question about the install.. is it necesarry to replace the whole rad support, or just cut the top part off and weld that on.. The wiredspeedlad.com tutorial looks nice, and alls he does is cut the top part off both supports, and replaces the usdm w/ the jdm.. This is what my body guy suggests.

Now my friend that did his, tells me to cut the WHOLE usdm support off, and weld the jdm one on, that seems a bit overkill.. Are there any advantages or disadvantages in doing it either way.. the shop says replacing the whole thing, it might tend to sag after a while.

summary: cut/replace top rad support, or cut/replace WHOLE rad support

Thanks guys

when I did mine, I replaced the whole radiator support. Once the front end panels, such as the fenders and hood, are removed the support can be un-welded from the car with not tooo much of a problem. I dont think replacing it is overkill simply because the support matches up to the points well, mainly because it's made for the car.

I'm not sure if the bumper supports will correctly meet up and bolt in to the USDM spots. My advice is to change it, even if the USDM one is stronger (that's just my opinion). Good luck.

With the cost involved with buying and installing a JDM front end, I would not skimp on any part. The USDM radiator support is different and should be completely replaced with the Factory JDM unit. I would find a body shop that won't try and take short cuts. You'll be happier if you only have to mess with this once.

You can use the USDM but it is advisable to use JDM radiator support for conversion.
