Ever since I had the Car from New I have been unable to apply full power and take off in a befitting manner!
The clutch slips followed by the tell tale smell.
Every time I take it to the dealer they test it and say there is nothing wrong. The last time they installed a new pressure plate to reduce the buzzing noise but the clutch still slips. Has anyone experienced this? and if so have you fixed it and how.
Apart from fitting an after market clutch kit!

 

Sounds to me you need a new clutch or you're a shitty manual tranny driver. It'll cost more out-of-pocket now, but will save you time and heartache going forward.

You can't part and parcel the clutch and expect it to perform like new since it requires so much labor just to get at the components.

Go to http://www.hardtopguy.com and ask them about the Comptech flywheel, ACT PP, and OEM friction disk group buy. It'll all come around to $850 for parts alone. You'll also have to purchase a new throwout bearing.

It's a superior setup to stock.

 

Probably put some good heat marks on the flywheel if you've worn the clutch all the way down, so the group buy mentioned above is probably a good idea.

 

tip - don't rest your foot on the clutch pedal, this causes the disk to wear.

a new clutch - all new parts, should solve the problem. if they did the pp, you should have thrown in the parts and an extra 50 bucks for them to do the rest. I wish I had done that at the time of my TSB.

are you sure the car is the problem and not your driving style?

 

Recommended clutch setup: Comptech lightened Flywheel, ACT HD pressure plate, OEM disc, and OEM throw out bearing. Hardtopguy is running a special on this for anyone that needs to upgrade.

 

Although the S2000 has a clutch that will hold the power (according to the math), it is a very small size 212mm so it gets hot fast and then it will no longer hold the power until it cools off. The way to compensate for the puny disc is to give it more clamp load with a stronger pressure plate and possibly improve the friction material. The setup that was mentioned is good but I would perfer to use our performance street disc that has the better linings. It should cost about the same, but you may get the buzzing back again since we use different center spring dampening.

What ACTman is saying here is true, not just self endorsement

A lot of people use the stock disc without a problem, but if you can get a longer lasting/better gripping clutch for the same-ish price, why not? I'm assuming longer lasting, less slippage seems to mean that to me.
