Front brake rotors
I am looking to replace my front brake rotors (94 Accord LX), is there anyone out there who has pictures of the rotor-hub assembly or the hub separated from the rotor? How difficult is this swap?
It's impossible to take off without the right tools. I think the rotor is somehow locked into the drive axel and you'll need a sliding impact hammer thing to jam it loose.
You can go to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com,search for your car type, year, trim, etc... and you will be able to find an exploded diagram of your brakes.
On your particular car, you will have to
* Remove the steering knuckle at the lower ball joint and tie rod arm. (you will need to borrow a puller to get the off, you can also use a pickle fork, but you need to be careful, so you don't damage the dust boots - or just buy some new ones and replace them too)
* Swing the knuckle off the axle. (after removing the 36mm axle nut, which can be tough to get off. I had to go out and buy a new impact wrench, because by dinky 1/2 inch drive wrench with 425 lbs of torque wasn't enough)
* Unscrew the four bolts that hold the hub/bearing assembly to the knuckle - use a 12 point socket -- forgot the size...sorry.
* Unscrew the four bolts that hold rotor to the hub.
* Rotor comes off the back.
It was a major pain in the @ss for me. I ended up replacing one tie-rod end and one ball-joint because they were too stubborn to come off.
If you need to change your CV boots or axles, this would be a good time to change them too.
good luck!

Just had my front rotors/pads replaced on 95 Accord EX. Had about 70k on OEM rotors and pads, replaced with Brembo slotted rotors and AEM pads. Shop owner quoted me 2 hour labor. Technician came in b..tching that it was at least 3 hours and my rotors were a pain in the a.s to get off because of some rust buildup.
So if it's a pain for a certified tech, it's a pain period

No, the 5th gen front rotors should be pressed off. The best bet is to do a 98/99 CL front rotor conversion. So next time you only need to slide the rotors out, just like the front.
