Default What are the advantages of using ITR suspension components on an EG?

I was talking with a guy at a local shop that has done a lot of work on my other cars. I was telling him I am looking for a hatch, he said I should get an EG, because all the ITR suspension will bolt right up. I have started to wonder though, if I upgrade the shocks and springs, what would I gain with the ITR stuff? If I swapped over the upper and lower control arms would it make a big difference, or there something else I am missing?

Thanks

He's probably referring to the 5lug conversion.

Bigger brakes, wider stance as well.

Better bushings, bigger brakes, and better stock shocks/springs.

So would be it easier, most cost effective, to find the upper and lower and the shocks, springs and brakes from an ITR, or just use some aftermarket shocks and springs and transfer over the rotors and pads from my dead DA?

Don't forget that the ITR lower control arms are stronger and give the rear suspension slightly better geometry. It's worth the upgrade to the shock/spring/LCA combo if nothing else. I think most online JDM stores carry the shock/spring combo for around $150 and I've never seen the LCA's for more than $100. If you do decide to go with the 5 lug, then you will gain the added advantage of larger brakes, and a more structurally stable wheel/hub assembly, to some it's worth the cash, and to some it's not. Just note that with the 5 lug, it's smart to upgrade to either a 15/16" or 1" master cylinder and a 40-40 proportioning valve (assuming you don't want ABS).
