exhuast for 2nd gen
What exhuast do most of you 2nd gen guys use? I was thinking either the Greddy SP2 or HKS Hiper, but the HKS is so damn expensive..lol. Anything else out there that is cheaper but retains functionality and a great sound?
just put an RSR on my friends 93 gsr and its nice. we installed it along with a 2.5" high flow cat which made it sound even nicer!
to the nice and quite RSR

91 LS running a Thermal Classic 2.25" system. Quiet compared to the other exhausts I have heard, doesn't have the huge bling look, silent at cruise under 60 mph (yay!) but still sounds wicked at WOT and makes significant power gains. I would strongly suggest it to anybody.
If your main concern is price, try to find one used. I actually got mine off a guy who drove with it for a year in Arizona. Low miles, southern state (no rust), perfect condition, and saved over $200. Watch the classified forums and find it that way. Make sure you get some good pictures of one before buying though.
Good luck and happy hunting.
Edit: In case you didn't realize this already, exhausts are different for 90-91 and 92-93. The exhausts are longer for 90-91 so if you have a 90-91 you can still put a 92-93 on with an adapter, but you can't put a 90-91 on a 92-93.

from what i've seen/heard... Greddy SP/SP2 & RSR, are the nicer ones. great tone.
even though HKS is everyone likings... expensive, and at times too loud.
i'd hope to get the SP2

I've got the Greddy MX exhaust and I'm very please. It retails (or did when I bought it) for $599. I got mine for $430 though and you can usually find it for less than retail if you search around.
Do a search for this as well.

i had a walker muffler with 2.5inch piping. just a straight pipe coming out the muffler for the exhaust tip.
the walker muffler was meant for a v6 camaro application. fits perfectly. nice sound, not much different than stock when cruising, but gets deep in the upper range and sounds good when engine braking. oh yeah, and a lifetime warranty. for 150 bucks at a local muffler shop.

i just answered this question like 3 or 4 days ago! anyways i have a greddy mx muffler sits sideways like stock, tip is real simple round not really big and single. its polished, it is quiet at partial throttle then gets throaty at WOT. i like it. bought mine used so its 4 or 5 years old and still holdin up great. for the 92-93 if you dont buy it new, make sure you get the extension for the cat, if not... go to the muffler shop and have them make you up one.
hrmm, it looks nice, but the piping is only 60mm. Thats going to be a little small for my application. I doing an all motor build for now, but will be boosting in the future. e.g. Crower 402's, forged pistons(retaining stock comp.), eagle rods and crank. im looking for somthing closer to 2.5in
wasasup man, if our going to go all motor, with high compression and about 190+ to the wheels, you definately should go with a full 2.5" piping system. none of those greddy or bling bling brand names will give you more then 60-65mm. i'd go with a cusotm setup, so you could use any length header you wish, perhaps a JDM 4-1, or better. they'll have longer length tubes then stock headers, and therefore will put the flanges for the cat and exhuast in different places. try http://www.kteller.com his stuff is pretty good, service is up there as well. good luck.
