Hey guys, what's going on! Hope ya'll can help me out with a little problem. My car is open downpipe for the turbo, but it smokes a lot... So I went to the shop today and purchased a Greddy catch can. I didnt have one, so i thought maybe the oil was doing that. I'm not sure though, need opinions from you guys. And also, when i switch from 1st to 2nd gear, perfect, but from 2nd gear to 3rd gear when I drive normal/regularly, it GRINDS, why?? from 3rd to 4th, no grinding, from 4th to 5th, no grinding. Only from 2nd to 3rd. I'm a little worried about my tranny. Help!

 

if it your valve cover breather that smokes a lot, you fired a piston ring (lots of blowby).

 

The tranny prob might be your synchro's.

What color is the exhaust smoke. Do a compression test also.

 

Your questions were pretty much answered, but I'll just answer to verify that these are you rpoblems.

1) Preludes have weaker ringlands. How much boost were you running? If it was more than 8psi and you were untuned, you probably cracked one.

2) Prelude synchro's are notorious for going bad. Put in some GM synchromesh and it should bandaid the problem temporarily.
