Default stock lightened flywheel....

so i got a good deal on an OEM flywheel, lightened from 18lbs to 13lbs (sohc)...

i'm pretty much set to do it, about to send out the money...

people however have spoken about a lightened and balanced flywheel from exploding under extreme stress. get the flywheel to light (and thin) then i agree.

BUT... has anybody actually had it happen to them? what setup? conditon? how light??

thanks all!

that from what i knows only happens under extreme lightening. like 6-7lbs. stick around 13-11lbs on an oem flywheel and 99.9% of the time youll be good to go.

if it isnt SFI approved, chances are sooner or later if you alter the integrity, it will come apart.

I'd rather just get a whole new flywheel rather than a lightened OEM one. Honda usually makes their stuff for a reason, to be able to withstand any type of abuse and to extend the life as long as possible.

I have a Toda flywheel. Revs up fast, I love it.

How much are you paying to have the flywheel lightened? if it's more than $200 why not just go safer and lighter and get a Fidanza? I know a guy that sells em cheap.

yeah, i got a package deal... a exedy stage II along with a 13lb OEM flywheel... $250 shipped (thanks, fake mugen power)... pretty damn good i told myself, and i have yet to meet one person with it failing on them.

besides, its not like the flywheel is under 10lbs.. i'm pretty sure the structural integrity is still present..

yea it will be more than fine. I would pass the oem up if you had over 200-230hp.. but your not really gonna be hitting that number.
