Default b16 or b18, my dilemma.

Ok here's the story. I have a buddy who claimed he could get me a b18c for cheap. He's been looking for the last month or 2 trying to find one at a good price. I know how cheap he could have gotten me one for, because he's gotten them hella cheap for other people. Naturally, with my luck, Im the person he can't seem to find one for at a reasonable price. What makes things worse is that in 2 weeks he's moving. So basically he needs to find me something before then. If he doesn't he can still get me something where he lives, but I really dont want to wait that long.

Anyway, if he doesn't come through, I have a b16 lined up for a decent price. I bought all my turbo parts for the b18, but thankfully they will all work on the b16. Im going to wait and see what he can do in 2 weeks, but after that Im going to be on my own. I will either buy the b16 with cash, or take out a small loan and get a b18 from somewhere.

What do you guys think, go with a b16 if he cant pull through, or take out the loan and get a b18c? Is the b18 going to be worth my extra money? The only thing Im thinking I'd need to change is to get a smaller turbo for the b16. A t3/t4 might be a little big, maybe not. Either engine will get built eventually. So if I got the b16 I'd bore it out somewhat. It will be stock for a while tho.

I don't know what to do...

If you already have a B16 lined up I would just get that and build it. Rather then waiting for a B18c for a cheap price. Who knows how long that may take.

Thats pretty much what Im leaning towards now. It's kind of hit and miss with engines. he may find one tomorrow, or he may find one 4 months from now. If he hasnt found me something before he leaves in 2 weeks, I guess I'll just have to go with the 1.6. I'm sure I'll be just as happy with it.

there are numerous people on this board making crazy power on a b16. ive seen on over 700 HP. just get the b16, unless the b18 is only like 200 bucks more or something.
