As the title says, I have a 89 crx si with a 95 jdm b18c swap running obd1 and us spec p72.
Here are all my mods...
64mm TB
Skunk2 IM
DC header
stock cat from 89'
new ntk o2 sensor
My cat is good, because last year I passed on my old b16a just fine.
Here are all the numbers...
HC idle=max 100, actual 313 CO=idle max 1.00, actual .09
HC 2,500rpm =max 130, actual 103 CO2,500rpm=max 1.00, actual .17
Here are all the numbers last time...
HC idle=max 100, actual 306 CO=idle max 1.00, actual .09
HC 2,500rpm =max 130, actual 116 CO2,500rpm=max 1.00, actual .29
Thanks, Ryan

1)Even though your car passed last year w/ that stock cat I would still replace it.
2)What Octane are you running?
3)What is your idle RPM?
4) What is your timing set at?
Please answer these and I may be able to help. I got an 89' hatch w/b16 no cat to pass. I used to work at a shop and our smog tech showed me a few things

2)91 octane
3)idle rpm is 750 right on that line
4) timing is stock
3)idle rpm is 750 right on that line
4) timing is stock
Get a new cat.
Retard the timing a few degrees (this will bring the RPM down) adjust the RPM back up to 900 ( I think that is the max RPM allowable)
Make sure that the engine is warm and has been running for a while(the cat must be heated in order to catalyze properly)
Go to your local track or speed shop and pick up some 100 or higher (not to exceed 104 octane)unleaded fuel. I hope this helps

I recomend putting the stock GSR intake manifold and throttle body. you want to restrict the engine as much as possible at idle. have you clean the carbon buildup in the engine yet?

No, I havent, should I just put some water through my vac hose while running?
Can I just restrict the intake box more or something instead of putting the stock IM back on, the stocker dosent fit in a rex very well? Thanks, Ryan

Civic ECU. Thats how I passed my old '92 with ITR motor. Runs way less fuel, and wont hurt the car.

Unchipped. I put in a P28 for my emissions pass.

I failed twice with my Skunk2 chipped ECU, with STOCK exhaust and cat, and passed with flying colors with the stock civic ECU. I dont remember the actual numbers, but they were all well within the accepted range.

Just borrow a buddies stock ECU
Turning the FPR down still wont bring it down enough for the #'s that you posted

I remember seeing something on a DC header that says it may not pass emissions or something. maybe I'm wrong though. you might want to check up on that. my friend had a dc header on his car and failed emissions, then passed when he put the stock header back on
Your car runs rich, the numbers you have indicated just means the car's running somewhat rich.
My b16a civic with no cat put out 500HC's at idle
So you don't wanna restrict airflow you want to lean the engine out.
From the information you have given thouhg i would have to say your cat is on the way out.
Replace it with a random technology highflow there great quality and good luck ^_-

Thanks for your info. What numbers did you go down too once you got the random technologies high flow? Thanks, Ryan

Thanks for the help, is Random that much better than carsound?
I have had horrible experiences with car sound, breaking apart.
We placed one a on a car running in great condition and it melted and broke apart etc. my opinion =

Random qoted me like 235 shipped, is that the going rate? Thanks
Do you need the install kit?
"Installation kits are also offered and typically include front and rear gaskets, longer bolts, washers and nuts."

I belive that is the going rate some cheap cats are like 150. If the install kit is less then 15$ then go for it

Yeah I agree the carsound sux *****. after only one month my carsound's honeycomb brick broke off from it's mount and started to rattle inside the car. then I replaced it with another carsound, same problem. my opinion carsound:
my car is in perfectlly working order. Hell in fact it's in better shape then 90% of cars on the road today. I eventually replaced it with a Catco cat instead and every since no problems at all. Also it's cheaper then the carsound cat I got: $160 installed vs. $107 shipped & direct fit from http://www.summitracing.com
BTW the Catco came with both gaskets

its not ur cat buddy.
also these jdm motors are know to pollute.
I would suggest try to play with a vafc and take it to pretest that might work since vtec controller is able to controll fuel.
umm I know u cant have that but some refs don't care

check ur o2 to see if its switching as it should
over 200hc is more likely a missfire but can be,vaccum leak, engine oil contaimed with fuel etc.
start with checking ur o2 sensor
also whats the co2 and nox reading that helps on a smog diag.

How would I check my 02? It is new, but there is a chance its wired wrong?
co2 ->idle=13.8 , 2,500=13.0

Have you'r ran the car at the Track 1/4?
how is it for daily driving lot's of power?
does you'r vtec kick in at 5,600 Rpm red line at 8,200 stock ecu</TD></TR></TABLE>
My vtec hits at 5,300 and the limiter is 9K (I dont rev that high though), thats on my chipped p28. The ecu for the smog test is a p72 us spec (stock).
Yea, its fast daily driving. Never ran it at a 1/4 track yet.
