How to replace an altenator in an 89 Civic DX?

How to replace an altenator in an 89 Civic DX?
I'm trying to replace an altenator in an 89 Civic DX...I've removed the old altenator from the bracket but cannot find a place to remove it from the engine (there are no holes big enough). Are there any tricks to this?
