Does anyone know if a JDM ecu and wire harness for a Dohc Vtec will fit on a civic non vtec sohc.
Car is a 00 sohc/non vtec . When doing a JDM engine swap, can the entire ecu and wire harness from the JDM motor Fit ? I believe you can just extend the wiring to compensate for the right hand drive. JDM engines are OBD2 I believe? I wanted to work with the parts i have at hand and find another alternative to a jumper and chipping the ECU.
Also, if i were to use the jumper method, would i have to run the vtec lines and stuff still, or is just plug and play?
you can REUSE your 00 civic's engine harness.
You don't wanna use the JDM harness - it's for a RHD car and will be a waste of time since you have your 00 US engine harness which you can use and just add the VTEC wires.
Or you can go out and buy a used 00 EX coupe engine harness....then you won't have to wire anything up. That's up to you though.....just a suggestion from experience.
Also, I hope the engine you have is an 99+ OBD2 engine - well more over in the electronics dept. - distributor, injectors, & ECU mainly.
btw... JDM engines are not all OBD2, there's a variety that come in nobd, obd1, obd2 - there's ways to tell if you know how to look.
