Default harness bars

I know this topic has probably been beat to death but i have researched and cant find anthing.

I own a del sol, some companies are making harness bars for 92-95 civics and they look like i can modify those to work. i can also make a custom one that i have.

My question is are the lokar motorsports or ones like that legal for autocrossing

check this out. They have one for your car. Looks like it is very well made and thought off.

Yes, it is legal for Solo2. The rules call for no "structural enhancement" (or something along those lines) ---> they are referring to someone coming up with a frankenstein bar that connects to suspension point...

Have there been protests to prove/disprove the legality of the bars?

One could argue that any bar that spans the unibody of a car and is strong enough to support harnesses in an accident would enhance the structure of the vehicle.

The bars that are legal have single point attachments to the pillar rather than 2 or more. They have the same structural rigidity to torsional unibody flex as a house of cards.

At one time, Howard Duncan had ruled it as legal and passed it onto the SEB for comment. I never saw anything in FastTrack after that, however. And we all know that Howard's word really means nothing anyway.

Honestly, that bar isn't going to provide any structural ragidity with the spherical joints on the down riggers.

i love that one from sparco but it's to pricy for just a harness bar... a autopower roll cage is cheaper or the same price

Exactly, so if you can't install that then how would you ever install a harness bar to begin with. It is impossible to attach two points of a car and not make it more rigid....

The price is probably gonna be the reason for me to go custom.
