I have an idea that I wanted to run by everyone before I test it out... I am getting ready to remove my power steering (pump, lines, reservoir, cooler, etc.)... My question is do you think that the power steering cooler is strong enough withstand the pressure and heat of oil??? If so then I could leave the power steering cooler where it is or mount it somewhere else if i want and connect it with an oil filter relocation kit because I was going to do that anyways... I could mount the new oil filter where the cruise control actuator was (because that is gone too) and the hard lines from the cooler are already right there and would only need to be extended a few inches.... But this is all assuming the cooler could handle oil or if you guys even think this would serve as a sufficient oil cooler, let me know what you think...

Power Steering Cooler (#3 in the Picture)

 

First, I know the power steering pump does not produce as much heat as the motor, so the system will not be designed to handle extended periods of heat.

Second, what kind of pressures are seen in the P.S. system? I didn't think it got as high as the oiling system...

 

after seeing what happened to sams car with his oil cooler (sure it was nascar sized but still) i will never get one. but thats just MHO

yes it will work. they are steel lines. i dont understand why anyone wouldnt think that they would be up to snuff.

 

buying a stock oil cooler from a junkyard off of a car that comes with one stock would also be another very simple solution and would most likely transfer more heat away

it was so damn big it killed his oil pressure over time. that is the only thing we could contribute to blowing his completely built motor because it was tuned quite well.

i guess a smaller one wouldn't be too bad, but its a honda. hell i am cautious about using anything other then a honda oil filter. oil pressure is just too sensitive on them.
but thats just me

yes i can understand how the volume of the cooler could starve the pressure some.

i was basically refering to that the lines are adequate enough for oil.

they are steel lines they will work but id rather hit up the junk yard and pay five bux for one that would do a better job at cooling.
