shift linkage problems

shift linkage problems
i just bought an 86 crx and the shifter is really tight. it has no problem going into gear but sliding the shifter back and forth is really hard. does the linkage just need oil or what?

does it have a short shifter or stock? jack it up and put it on some jack stands. Then have someone else go throught the gears to see if its binding.
