Default need ground controlled by ignition

like the topic says i need a ground that turns on when i turn on the ignition. the reason being is that my friend wired my cooling and a/c fans together bucause my cooling wouldnt turn on and i would over heat in traffic but he said cuz of the way he wired it the fans would come on and stay on when i start the car and the only way to get a switch to work is to find a ground that will turn on with the ignition any ideas????

ground is constant no matter where you attach your wire to. Why don't you wire the (+) to a switched power as suppose to what you have in mind, which is just the opposite. Or better yet, replace your fan switch so both fans come on when it's suppose to.

You can wire up a relay to do this. Find a power wire that comes on with your ignition and hook your relay to that.

You could fix your fans. Normally the temp switch goes bad and then you no longer have a ground supplied to the fan circuit... fan never comes on.

im sorry but i dont have a good understanding of electrical work and thats why i wanted to not mess with this problem more than i have to. i guess the reason i need a ground that can turn on and off is because of the switch that i have for the setup so is there anyway i can do this with a ground so i dont have to change anything???

why dont you just toss a switch in the ground wire and put it on your dash somewhere. and whenever you get in your car just flip your switch.

you could even have 2 switches. one for ac fan and one for regular fan. so you dont hafta roll with both fans all the time
