OT - Lost some respect for Speedvision :(
I turned on Speedvision this morning and coverage of Englishtown's Summer Slam was on. The next thing I see is the host walking over to a red Civic with the usual kit, wheels, graphics etc. Its also sporting a red valve cover and DOHC VTEC stickers on the side. A look at the tach confirms its an Si. But what does he say? "When you think of import horsepower (pointing to the engine) you usually think of this - "Type R". Normally this is only found on the Integra, but in North America its also available in Canada on the Civic. Then he continues to talk about simple cam changes taking the power of the 1.6 "up to 95% of the level of a VTEC" whatever thats supposed to mean. Don't these people think before they say things like this on TV?
Sorry - just wanted to share and unfortunately I've got nothing better to watch so I'm stuck with Speedvision's ignorance for today.

I don't recall the details because I was paying so much attention to the absurd comments he was making. It had white wheels, silver stripes on the hood and and AEM. Oh and type "Type R" of course - only available for our neighbors to the north.
Well he could suck a nutt! He needs to go to Japan and SEE it for himself! I bet the Japan turners will be makeing a FOOL out of him!

Really! I never knew that (seriously).
Wonder why we don't (here, .. south of the border ...hehe).

Yah, i already knew that! Speedvision commentators SUCK!
I love how the hosts of those shows know NOTHING about imports. I also lovw when the hosts ask the car owners "so you've made it LOOK really fast, now what's in store for power?" The answer is the proverbial turbo/swap/supercharger that will never get done.
Annoying. Those shows are proof that the "JDM/J-Spec" thing is still a tiny part of the scene.

It seems to me that anyone of us could do a better job than those two losers at going through a car and talking about it. I've always laughed at the main guys who always did the import commentating, but the new guy they brought on "wearing the yellow glasses" knows absolutely nothing about cars and asks the stupidest questions while making an *** of himself by repeating 3 year old slang ever other sentence.
at least they're tryin, i mean 5 years ago there were no imports on tv shows. all mustangs and such. but now shows are doing a little more with them. Shadetree Mechanic and Horsepower TV (both heavy in domestic ****) have had import episodes, which i think is pretty cool.

you all missed a good one on the last show with the "NEON - Type R" and the Saturn AT THE IMPORT SHOW - because it's an "American - Domestic, but the body style is different than anything else out there so it's considered an import"...
lol
lol
They throw some cheesy rice in there once in a while. You missed the one w/the Neon Type R....and the $2k 82 Accord *show* car w/16k invested in it...that included the original paint job too. Announcer was impressed w/the fact that it had so much aftermkt stuff on it.....and it looked it too!
On the hpiracing.com forum someone put a TON of money into and 86 Accord Sedan. He had a pic of it going up his driveway and the line under the pic said "Look at the mad wheel tuck going up my driveway" I just laughed.
I remember when they started talking about this riced/ghettoed p.o.s prelude and ending up calling the same car an integra. It was funny watching the announcers they were I don't know who made me laugh more, the old guy using the word radical and calling an eyesore of a civic "clean" or that guy how looked like the was either n'sync or looked like that they guy from 90210!!!!
Yeah for Speedvision!!! I know what a neon type R looks like. This show sucked moosec*ck.

god! I think their programming staff has been replaced by a bunch of 12 year old retards. First they add nascar, then rice. Can it get worse?
HollySHIT! I saw this for the first time last night. I only watched 5 minutes of it, and got so pissed off I had to turn the TV off. What a bunch of f*cking morons.
Actually they been showing these import shows late last yr normally really late or early in the morning but most people didn't ever see them. I sure have and I just avoid them because they don't have anyone there that really knows anything about imports. They would be better if they got commentors from BBC TopGear.
That tall guy seems new and right off street probably pick him up at the last show or something because the ones that run it don't know much about Japanese cars.
This was like last yr most people never saw the DTM races or BTCC because it aired so late at night. Now it seems like there moving them into prime time. That show were talkin about came on before the WRC rally race around 8:30pm last night. Actually I wish they would kill the import auto show...and just do shows on auto shows around the world. One the reasons I didn't like Nopi as I use to is because it's getting more ricy every yr. But if they would put Nascar tech on there I would watched it. Alot of my friends around town that didn't car about Nascar started watching the tech portions. But I have to admit I've gotten abit more into Nascar mostly I guess because my parents know few of the drivers and one of them doesn't live very far away. I found out that some of the road course races in were the team car is not driven by the normal driver because they want to win they outsouce and hire road course drivers. They get hired between 250,000-500,000 dallors to drive that one race! I told them if I need to try out I will no doubt about it. I doubt many people turn down a 1 race drive for 250-500 grand. So I told my parents if they see his wife again to get me the hookup.

i've seen a couple of these shows and I think there hilarious. they pick the biggest buckets at the show and spend like 10 minutes on them. One of the reporter guys is like a real life version of Carlton Banks from The Fresh Prince. He is without a dought " the biggest ****** idiot i've ever seen"
