Din sleeve alternatives?
Hi all,
I don't usually post here but I have a question. I currently have a pioneer deck that I installed into my 99 civic and I used a dash install kit. I am now replacing it with a sony deck but the Din sleeve does NOT clamp into the deck properly (it just slides right through and no place where it clamps down like the pioneer deck). The sony deck has 2 brackets on the sides bolted to it that is similar in function to the DIN sleeve (keeps the deck from sliding through the dash, but the deck itself can wobble up and down). It almost looks as though if I had the factory bolts, I can actually bolt the HU to the factory bracket (but those bolts are long gone)
I guess I have a couple questions, is there a DIN sleeve that will fit this deck (are there different DIN sleeves depending on HU?)? If not, can I bolt the HU to the bracket using some bolts and will any audio place have these bolts?
Thanks!

Thanks for the response, I didn't realize there is a different sleeve for Sony deck. I prefer this method over the duct tape which I would think would make cooling difficult for the deck.

each manufacturer has there own sleeves.
Another alternative is to ISO mount it.
with a little massaging, you can connect the deck to the OEM mounts. looks better than the cage, in that car, imo.

ya you gotta get the Sony's own sleeve for it to fit properly. also, if you need those bolts, you can always go to a junk yard and pick them out of another Civic, or go to the dealer.
