Good gains from just switching to better condition head. Compression help and maybe other mods too.

nice stock numbers! now raise the compression! see what it can do.. with 10.8:1 c.r. (pr3 pistons, thats all i did..) was making 138hp and 124tq to the wheels.. everything else stock internally.

if he is going to swap a head on to the B20 block might as well get some new pistons and build the motor!

Good Luck!

Sorry to say, but the 1993 head is not a better head. It is exactly the same as the 1990-1991 (save for the headwork done on this particular one). Results would have been better if a 1994+ B18B or B20 head was used instead.

no at least i dont think so but the b18b cams from a 94 and up have bigger lobes, therfore it has alittle bit motr power and higher rev limit.a 90-93 b18a1's rev limit is at 6.5k and a 94 and up b18b1's rev limit is like at 6.8 or 7k.

also by a better head he ment a better condition head.no burnt vualves.therefore give it a beter comp. accross.

TY captain obvious, but he said he is going B20vtec soon, so why would some one suggest CTR pistons?

Yes, the intake ports on the B18A are much smaller than on the B18B heads. Exhaust ports are the same.

Obviously you can not read very well! I do not see anything about B20/Vtec anywhere! What I do see is he is considering using a B20 Block with a B18b(NON-VTEC) head with 404 cams!

Intake manifolds are different as well!

Yeah Jon's hardcore non-vtec guy (our buddies always give him **** about it), but hey to each his own... Jon's got a plan and when he's finished it going to be pretty nice

There is more power to be made on the setup he has....look at the air/fuel......you need to get the air/fuel lowered between 2k and 45k this will carry the power through the midrange a little better then it is now and possably produce a slightly higher peak...

the air/fuel is great after 5k for an allmotor setup......

Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your next setup

Im sorry I jumped to conclusions, he said he was building a 9.6 B20. You mentioned CTR pistons, and im sure you were talking about putting them in the b18. But why would he do that when he is building a different motor. Seems like **** logic to me.

No. You don't get the bigger ports until 1994.

At first he was considering buildin the B18a and is now considering the B20 route! The B20 route w/ an LS head if built right is the best way to build a non-vtec to the 200+whp range!

Yeah, CTR pistons were for the B18A and they work great in the LS as well P30 Pistons for those who dont want to go all out! As far a B20 goes Endyne makes rollerwave pistons that are really good in quality and prove themselves well worth it!
