Default Car carnks but no start

Ok i did a search & came up with nothing.

I have a 91 accord lx 4 door.
Today i was out shopping & as i cam out the store the car started & i backed out of the parking & went to pull forward & the car just shut off. So i pushed it back into a space.
I tried waiting for a lil bit & tried starting it again, but no luck.
I checked my main relay, nothing.
I checked my fuses, nothing.
I even thought my gas tank sender was broken so i put 2 gallons of gas in. nothing.
The car cranks & wants to start but just keeps cranking & you car smell the gas.

All day the car worked fine & now it wont start.

What should i look for ????

lol, you know what, that has happened to me in the past, do you run any kind of aftermarket ignition system? or have you and its now been taken off? are there any splices under the hood? what is happening to you is a matter of loose wiring, its happened to me before, ****...check for loose wiring, loose plugs, check your spark plugs, it has to be something electrical...

Everything is factory. nothing is aftermarket.

uhm, lets see, have you checked your air filter? check that, see if its dirty? when a car doesnt crank properly it can be a whole manner of things, you just basically have to, with trial and error mess with basically everything under the hood to see if they are either fastened correctly or in working order...its hard to diagnose, unless of course some of our more advanced members can jump in here and lend a helping hand!

I would check your plugs, wires, and dizzy...

It could be a clogged/dirty fuel filter. Also check your engine grounds

and if all else fails, take the car to your local mechanic, they usually know what to do!

you could also try testing some of the electrical components under the hood...

I wouldn't think so...if you're not getting spark on 3 plugs, then I would aim towards the dizzy.

inside...check for any corrosion on the 'runner' (I don't know what they are called, but there is a circular shaped disc that has a metal contact point to touch another metal contact point that then connects to your plug wires)

Also what condition are your plugs in?

Yes number 5...the inside of that for each plug wire attachment on the inside there is a metal 'runner' .

Also number 3 is the inside circular thing I was tell you, it is what makes contact to those runners .

Well i just got back from the car & i tried to pop start if just for **** & giggles no luck

Well i also took off the dizzy cap & checked the rotor & its in great shape.
as i removed the cover under the rotor (#10 in picture). the coil had a redish brown powder on it.

As i tried to start the car i noticed a strong smell of gas & i can hear the fuel pump running so i know its got gas & no spark to burn it off.

So please tell me what can cause me to have no spark ?? should i replace the igniter ???

or what should i do ?

when you said that 3 of the plugs had no spark, what about the 4th? did it have any spark at all? your coil or ignitor probably went bad, being my guess...

why would it be the whole dizzy & not just the igniter or even the coil ???

I figured since 3 had no spark, why bother with #4.

Coil is a very common failure..it gets too hot under the cap, thats why they moved it to external on the 92-93 models.
You can check this link for diagnostic info.
