I'm getting some humming sound coming from my engine. It sounds like its from the belt area but not sure exactly. It gets louder as I drive.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

if its your timing belt, sometimes it squeals like no tomorrow before it goes... but if you are prety sure its coming from the t-belt area, get it changed before its too late youll kick yourself in the *** later if you dont.

but squeals can come from alot of places, alot ive seen is from the alternator when they dont tighten the bolts down enough.

 

I haven't done anything to the alternator so I don’t think its that. The sound isn’t really a squeal its more of a humming sound. If it is the timing belt what am I looking at in terms of replacing, $400?

See if it's your alternator, it's common on the v6 models..

 

get your alt tested

 

400$? that might be dealership prices, but most shops ive been to ask for around 200-250 for tbelt + waterpump change.

 

Sounds like a belt to me...take it into a shop and get them or someone to take a quick look and maybe see what is wrong, but from what little information you have provided, it sounds like a belt.
