install radio in 85 accord but wont stay on with car off
I have an 85 accord I just bought for a driver and it didn't have a radio...I mean it had the filler cover that says Honda on it! I don't think it ever had a radio....Bought it from a German Baptist. Nice guy. Anyway, I ran down to the local pawn shop and picked up a JVC KX-F190 for a cool 35 bucks. Of course I don't ever look at directions...not that it had any...figure I can work out most things but here is my problem: I have hooked up all the speakers correct, the yellow is the hot the black is the ground and that leaves 2 wires. Blue is to amps, power antenna, etc. and the red say it is to auxillary. I assumed this was to a hot lead when the car is off. I tapped into a wire showing juice when the car was off under the dash but the radio still loses it memory. Have to reset the station and eq setting etc. I cant figure it out. Also I keep popping the clock fuse, a 20 amp, since I put the radio in. Could the radio and clock be on the same curcuit? If so am I drawing too much with the radio and clock together? Can I pop a 25 or 30 in there without burning anything up? TIA awsome group!

Check your wiring. the clock fuse was also for the radio backup if I remember right. Don't use a bigger fuse, it shouldn't draw much current.
