Default Top speed on h23 gearing...

i know that the M2F4 has a 5th gear of .870 and a final drive at 4.266, but how much of a bump in top speed would one get if they were using an h23 tranny which has a .812 5th gear with the same FD? thanks

this would be on an h22 though, so how fast would someone be going at redline in 5th?

you must have some big tires on the car, cause a stock SI shouldn't be goin any faster than 130 at 6500 rpms

sorry for misunderstanding... i want to swap an h22 into an eg, and because im thinking about boosting it, i want to take advantage of longer gears. so instead of using an m2f4, i would use an m2s4. im just trying to get an idea of how give the difference in top speed will be.

Where do you plan on going over 140mph in your hatch.. We can't answer your question without knowing your max RPM and tire size..

Well, assuming you use the same size tire as on a Prelude, and you are using the H23 tranny on an H22, then you will hit fuel cut at 7600 while running 152mph.

I got bored in class one day and calculated out all the top speeds w/ the different motor/tranny combos in the Prelude.

I'm at 127mph at 6500 rpms in my stock 92 Si, (stock wheels). The H22 has fuel cut off at 7600 rpm. I hope that helps. Top speed does matter, I feel ya.

this doesnt make sense if the h23 has longer gears than the h22. I've hit 144 and I still had a few hundred more rpms in my h22. Im on 18's with 35 series tires.

Because you have larger wheels, and more rpm before the red line.

because you have an H22 with a higher redline.
