Default 93 accord a/c system. My vac. will only pull a little better than 28" of mercury??? is this ok>

Do I need to borrow my father-in-law's better vacuum pump to evactuate my system before adding R12???? Or am I OK with just 28 or 28 1/2" of vacuum??
I've heard some people say theirs will pull a full 30", but my father in law says he believes that may be stretchying it just a little. Although you should be able to get 29" on a good machine.

Does anybody out there have a take on this????

if you can pull 28" for 15 mins, it should be all good. The reason for the vacum+ time is to evaporate moisture from the system.
