Default TPS!!! Its Killing Me, I Cant Race!!!

I know its my TPS that must be fucked. I just checked over every single vacuum hose and Im still getting the sloppy/high idle

I cant install my Zex kit until I get this solved so I wont let this thread die
Here comes the fleet of questions

What wires am I sticking my multimeter in? Im talking right off of the tps, not from the ecu

The car is off right?

What I think I do so far, turn the car off and click it over once, stick the positive wire(red) into which wire from the tps _______, and stick the black wire from the multimeter to the _______ coming out of the tps. If the reading isnt .45-.5 & 4.5V then it needs to be played around with

Just have no idea really what Im sticking my multimeter into

You could check the diagnostic code on your blinking ecu. That would tell you forsure.

if the TPS is out of calibration or not installed it will give a code! i know for sure, i have had TPS problems ever since i did mpfi, but after i got working tps and wiring fixed, it made a big diff. u can try turning the tps and using your multimeter calibrate it for correct voltage at idle

Your computer can still have some trouble codes stored into it or have some trouble codes that did not set the check engine light off.

Oh really? Im going to install my Pg7 and see how it runs as well

But first I guess I might as well check for the code on the ecu, how to you check for codes at the ecu?

Still looking for info on how to adjust the tps

To adjust the tps you need to cut the rivets in the back so you can use a screw driver to loosen the rivets, then you hook a volt meter to the tps and turn the tps. To see if your throwing codes, pull back carpet, take metal shield off ecu and see if the light flashes.

i believe its the red and green wires. have you ever had your throttle cable off?

if your fully open reading is about 4.5V and only your fully closed reading is off...then just play with the throttle cable tension or throttle stop screw. if you have a dashpot you may have to put a vaccum on it.

helms says 0.5V
hondata says 0.45V
and i run mine about 0.47V

with the reading taken right at the sensor. (dont know if there is any slight voltage loss to the ecu?) also reset your idle according to the procedure in the helms manual.

Anyone can clarify what he said above?

All I know is that there is a red wire in teh middle, I dont know what the other 2 colors are, just red the middle wire for my zex kit was in the middle.

So would the multimeter be attached to the 2 outer pins??

That is some funny sh*t. Yes, it is the green and red wires. There is some plastic insulation around the wires inside the plug. You may have to pull those back a bit in order to make contact with the actual wire. I am emailing you a pic right now to show you what I mean. Let me know if you receive it.

So how is this procedure done...do you put in ignition key and turn to "on" position but not started? Strip small piece of RED and GREEN wires before TPS sensor? Read voltage at WOT and idle and move TPS sensor accordingly?

If you can post up that pic you have so we can all see...

it's on the back of the throttle body and the sensor comes off at an angle downward. It's directly opposite where the throttle cable connects to throttle body.
