Default B16 Motor Overheating

Me and a friend swapped a JDM B16 in his 89 crx si. We had problems getting this motor started at first. because all of the injectors were not working, plus when i pulled the spark plugs there was oil all over the # 2 and 4 spark plugs. So we changed the injectors and spark plugs and it started up ok. Ovce it started up we decieded to let it run for about 5-10 mins. After about 5 mins all we saw was the temp gauge going into to the red zone. So we turned it off let it cool down opened the raidator cap there was some air in it. So we blead the system put more anti-freeze in, then after about 40 mins we fired it up again and in about 2-3 mins the temp gauge started going into the red again. I can't figure out why this motor is overheating. Anyone have any suggestions, because im starting to think i got a bad motor, and im ready to pull it out of the car and bring it back to the place where i got it from.

Yeah i checked the oil pan. It's ok. i going to change the water pump and thermostat. But i don't know what motor i should get it for. The JDM B16 Gen 1 motor i got came from a integra. Im assuming 90-93 years. So should i get a ls water pump, or one from the 99 si.

I have a b16a swap and have run into a similar problem but don't despair you might have overlooked an air pocket in the motor. it might be that simple. don't over look the other stuff either but my Rex has run 10 miles with no pump( broke on way home from work) in Florida heat and hasn't gone above half on the guage and that was just with the radiator fan.

If i was you id run a vacuum on the coolant to find the culprit before i went trashing the motor.good luck

Just to give an update. We changed the thermostat and water pump. They indeed were bad. the car used to overheat after just 5 mins of running. Now we can run the car for about 40 mins and it's ok but after that the problem comes right back. I asked a couple of people if the radiator might be the prob and they said no, but im starting to think it is. We're still using the stock crx si radiator. Do we need a radiator from an integra to run this motor properly.
