Top Speeds
What are your top speeds in your Civics and CRXs? Just to see the potential. I don't want to hear what the manual says the top speed is. I want to hear what YOU guys have. Now to contradict that, anybody know the topspeed of a '91 Civic DX unmodified?
I got to do 117 in my 88 CRX Si and it didn't feel safe. Most def. needs to be checked out b4 I go that fast again. I was holding it steady about 5 mins. then got scurred. I was conerned about tires and my brakes. After my swap I'll let u know what I can hit with the b16. Lates

I had my first sedan, an 88 DX, up to 125+, no tach
... but oh so smooth...
I had my ladies CR-X up to 125+, in 5th, tach at about 5000 rpm, up a hill, even more smooth at speed than the sedan...
Haven't had the EX over 105 due to the fact there's no telling what else might go wrong with it if I go any faster...

125???!!!!! How long does it take to reach that speed? Out here in middle of nowhere land, TX, I can only push about 106 m.p.h.! Is there some trick to it or just wait and wait til the car gets there. Good lord thats fast.

I can only estimate but i buried my stock speedo so i must of been going faster than 120 so i estimate 130 we were flying but thats with a chip without the chip only 115 oh yeah b16 also.
Taken my 91 crx to 120 mph before, it was handaling pretty good too. That was with the d-15 motor and aem intake, dc 4-2-1 header, custom exhaust. I am getting a zc swaped in pretty soon then I will see what I can do, also getting a turbo sometime next year can't wait to see what it will do.

i hit 110 with my old stock hf motor(62hp baby)...damn that thing was good for freeway...i think i could have gone 115 or 120 but goin that fast in a hf isnt too safe...might get some serious air time

Just so you guys know, 135 or so is pretty much tops that you'll be able to get it....
either you'll
A) run out of gearing
or
B) the drag coeeficient on the car will not let it accelrate anyfurther, unless of course you have plenty of gearing left and have a huge shot of NOS or turbo, but even then, the shape of a CRX is not very friendly to 130+ mph speeds, as the front end WILL come up a bit.... unless of course you have a way of putting downfoce to the front.
And I SERIOUSLY doubt a STOCK B18 can get to "135+"
A friend of mine (crxshark) in his B16 crx (mid-low 13second car) can only get to about 135 or so..... tops. I dont see a ZC or B18 doing that stock in a CRX, at all....

i was in the red on my tach, between 6500-7000 on the i5 down to seatac airport
with the aid of a hill... i was trying to keep up with my friend's 300zx.. needless to say that didnt last long
car felt relatively stable... but floaty at times
i have a witness to.. my passenger.. but didnt have a camera
my friend in the 300zx who was beside me said we were doing about 220km/hr
but im not sure how accurate that was, im canadian btw

lol well this should be funny to all you guys..maybe not i dont know..but i have a 86 crx dx..lol...and i got it to about 98/99..no engine mods except rebuilt head, i was too scared to go any faster since the engine has almost 200,000 miles on it and i didnt want to blow out the bottom end... but thats alright..ill be getting something newer soon, ALOT newer.
I'm currently cursed with a speed limiter (damn Pw0), but i had my old D16 up to about 125 or so. There is a pretty decent sized hill on the way to my work, so it shot up there pretty quick. Never tested the old motor on just flat highway though.
Got my old 91 CRX Si to 130 with my newly installed ZC and i have gotten my b18c1 powered eg past 150 before on 85 south going by the South Carolina BMW plant. Krucial!!!
at 6800 rpm on a 90 LS tranny and a b18b with 195/50/15 tires my crx simply does 134 mph, tire pressure also is a factor of top speed u can calculate it with a simple formula even i had anot 400 rpm to go or till the fuel cutoff kicks in , car still handled at that speed, so no flamers plese...if your car is not setup to do that plese dont say others cant do it..
my old 88 civic dx auto use to get to about 105 or so.... so don't feel bad.... it was auto though and i'm sure the tranny didn't like 95mph in second gear for a sec... woops hand slipped. my 91 si is at about 4000rpms at 80mph in 5th i think it could get to 120. it's def not stock... but my suspension sucks.... my last nissan 240 sx (90 xe ka24e sohc) could go to 115 before the gov would kick in the sr gets to about 150 or so mph w/ plenty more to go
i don't really know how fast i've been in my CRX w/LS and NOS but i've pinned the needle down a whole lot. once i was racing this TT supra with a fat *** intercooler. on freeway 101 both of us pacing at 80, so i open up my bottle, i can reach it from my seat, damn i wish i had a remote opener back then, anyways i purge and he takes off he gets about a car and a half away just by jumping first then i slowly start creeping on him then when he shifted to 5th i got side by side with him and i shifted to 5th and was still creeping away, by this time the needle is pinned already, then he shifted to 6th and i pulled away from him untill i got to 6800 rpms on a ls tranny, by this time i think he was at his top speed too, so how fast do you think i was going 160 +? What can a TT supra go up to. i don't think there was a stock speed limiter on the car though. hope you liked the story kind of long but going that fast i felt my back end getting loose now i have a mugen spoiler on my new crx i wonder if that will help
