Towing a waverunner with my lude?
lol ok don't think im crazy, but I don't know. I did a search and didn't find anything. I'm not looking to tow a boat or anything but do you guys think it would be alright to tow a wave runner with my 5G lude? If one would be ok, how about 2 on a trailer?
Car is stick and all stock except for intake and has 43,000 or so very well taken care of miles if that helps. Waverunner weighs 653 pounds each. I'm guessing the trailer would be around a couple hundred.
yeah, im a newb, i've never towed stuff before so i don't know. what are everybodies thoughts on this please?
Is one ok? Two? Or definitely neither?

Really don't suggest towing that much weight with the Prelude... It isn't a car that is meant to tow stuff. Although I have seen a S2000 tow 1 Waverunner. Basically, I4 Hondas don't have that much torque, so you're talking about a lot of strain on your engine with that much weight at the back...
yeah, i was just looking online trying to find some stuff. i couldn't find anything on the prelude, but I found factory specs on the cavelier and it had a 1000 pound tow capacity with only 140 horses and i believe it was right around 127 torque. The stock 5G is better than that, so I my guess now would be that 1 waverunner would be ok. Yeah, I know it's not a truck or anything. I don't want a truck and I don't need my lude for lots of towing, but I would like to know that I can tow my waverunner (when I buy one) with it. Cause if I can't, then i'll be needing a different car, and I don't want that really.
I guess I'll be needing to get a different car though when I start to plan on towing 2 of them, because with the trailer that's coming close to 1500 pounds. All experience and advice still welcome. Thanks
hey what if i had a turbo on my car? with 7 pounds of boost? would that make it better? i was going to do that first, but I decided to take the cash and buy the waverunner. LOL but i do still plan on going turbo, just can't do it right away.

I dfont think he is gonna worrry about the lack of power while towing awave runner. You wouldhave tobe a moron to think you could still try to race someone withatralier on the bacl of your lude.
You'll be fine but Iwould only tow 1 wave runner. 2 is just getting crazy

my Saturn SC2 had a tow hitch on it. aparently used for a bass boat from what i was told. just had a good hitch attached to it.
i dont see a problem with it as long as you go easy with it.

I really wouldn't be worried about towing it, although I would be worried about putting down the ramp. The ramps are usually really wet and you have to pretty deep in to get the waverunner in there...wouldn't there be a lot of tire spin comming out since there will be extra weight on the back?
LOL this reminds me of that video on ebaums of that tiny *** car pulling a huge trailor up a hill, then two seconds later it comes rolling down. hahaha.
A prelude with a trailer hitch on it... hmmm. JDM might have a new product coming out lol.

Not always. You just need to give your car a little gas to prevent wheel spin. Just be sure to have some thread left on your tires before taking it down the ramp
