eBay Strut Braces
Are they worth a damn, or cheap and cheesy? I heard that a strut brace is a strut brace, doesn't really matter who made or how much it cost. Any input appreciated.

Minght want to do some more reaserch. Are you sure you want
to take advice from some one who encorages people to flame his
car that he turned into some kind of disco night club? Do what you
want, im sure you will think it feels better with your new strut bars.
But a strut bar is a strut bar, and no matter who makes it or
where you get it from, you would still be better off buying
better struts, springs, or swaybars.

rear strut bars don't do anything either and man that is some crazy setup. although i did compare a neuspeed front upper strut bar to a cheap looking ebay one and they both did the same job. btw this is on an EF

yea you're wrong, rear strut braces make a very big difference, stiffer the better..

Do a search on it. This topic has been discussed a few times by
people who actually race their hondas.

get the typeR style ones,
I recommend them!
they have no pivot joints, so are completely rigid(avoid pivot jointed ones which most are).
I used to run typeR style front and rear,
now just the rear, I swapped the front out for a neuspeedbar because I got extended strut mounts, and the neuspeed bar runs around them.

so how do the ebay typer ones compare w/ your neuspeed one?

ah, about the same performance wise I guess..
they're both solid metal sticks,
the neuspeed is the more rigid of the two of course,
its very sturdy welded turbular metal of some sort,
the type R's are 3 pieces bolted together..
but i got my neuspeed one for 50bucks, mad used, had to repaint it myself.
the type R's I got front AND rear for 60 shipped..
u can get em cheaper now i bet too.
if you have a solid metal stick holding your strut towers together..
you're going to have nice responsive turnin.. and the improvement is not going to be anything crazy drastic.
of course it'll be more noticeable the stiffer your suspension is..
and theyr'e actually really helpful if you're slammed and bottoming out,
made my car feel alot safer on the freeway back in the day when I was like that.
but with proper suspension think of it as a garnish.
so dont go blowing ur money on anything overly expensivo

How does the way his hatch looks have any bearing on the information he's giving me?
....exactly.
and the shocks/springs are coming next month. I barely got the car a week ago, and I've already dumped $500 into the sound system, about to drop another $500 on the suspension, and then I've got to start saving for the rims/motorswap. So I don't have any negative thoughts about the order in which I'm doing my modifications.

bah, your on the street right. You just getting it for looks, be honesty... ebay is fine. Paint it flat black and call it mokjahama and you can be jdm like the rest of us

he said "performance" not looks. yes rota's are cheap. when you pay 2-3 times the amount.... you're paying for forged rims, that are lighter. 2 good +'s towards performance.

since the purpose of a strut tower brace is to be a structural reinforcement of your car, a flimsy brand x one off of ebay is not going to be very effective. of course, unless you have a good suspension and tires, and push your car hard in an environment such as track racing, youre never going to notice it anyway, so rice away with el cheapo ebay stuff.
I was looking at DCSports bars the other day and you know what I figured out? Most of them are Ebay bars machined to look good which in turn must take some structural integrity away from them.
The shape of the ebay bars as is is pretty good structurally speaking and if you tight them down real good they do the job very well. A metal bar is a metal bar for crying out loud. You have got to know when your spending money for quality and when your spending for a name.
And for the guy who said a rear strut tower bar does nothing, well sorry but that is so far off. When I put my AGXs with stock springs and polyurethane bushings in the rear of my car I could litteraly hear the chassis groaning and complaining. I put an Ebay style bar and man what a difference, not a sound

Wow great logic. I didn't know brand name was in direct correlation with the stiffness of the product. All this time I lost studying the physics of structural integrity when all I had to do what look at the label. Not. Logic > You.

I live in Quebec, Canada, and we have the worst roads of the country. So believe me when I say my car's suspension get's more abuse daily than when it gets pushed hard on track days. Just the top bars made a world of a difference.
