Default '99 - '00 SI Sleepers.

I drive a '99 SI and don't plan on adding ANY forced induction. Since I'm new to all the goodies and toys involved with import tuning, I would appreciate a little advice. I want to have a "sleeper" when I'm done with it all. So what steps do I need to take along with which upgrages. Do I need to add/upgrade certain items before others? Also, I want to take off the pinstripes and DOHC Vtech logos. Is this possible to do myself?

Use this as a forum for '99-'00 sleep modifications.

Aslo, my biggest issue is getting an aftermarket exhaust system that looks basic (no softball sized tips) and doesn't resonate sound. What's out there?

Well I atleast want the pinstripe and DOHC off. I don't even want it apparent that it's an SI. I just checked out that exhaust...looks pretty nice. I will more than likely go with that. Thanks guys, and keep these suggestions comin'.

Put an ex badge on the back and take off the front lip, oh and if ya wanna get real ghetto/sleeper, put some hx or steelies on. And if you have the power to back it up put some apc vtec tuning stickers on it(that will throw people off)

An ex badge would be really cool, if I slapped the steelies on, I could even put on lower badge. IF I pumped some HP out of the b16, could those pizza-cutting wheels grap the ground?

It's red. Does the "es" come with a flat black pipe?

Toss a few sleeping bags in your trunk... I still think it would be an uncomfortable sleeper, though, the seats are designed all wrong to stretch out on.

Uhm, I'm not being sarcastic, either. B16's were all well and good in the days of the light JDM CRX SiR, but 160 hp gets stretched a long way with the heavy EM1 chassis. If you want to try the hard way and not go FI, tint the windows so nobody can see you've gutted the interior. Drop as much weight as you can. Go with an engine bigger than the B16... B18C, B20/VTEC, etc. Work on your suspension a little and your driving a lot so you can launch really well.

Just swap your motor.. b16 isn't going to give you enough to be an effective sleeper. Screw all that outside sticker bs.... and tinted windows.... save up for a R swap.

Yeah LS VTEC or B20 VTEC is convienent because you already have a VTEC head.

But you need to do a lot of reading.

why save up for a R swap if he can just put in a R motor in his SI? he has the mounts and everything else.

why? if he could just take that money and put it towards the JDM GSR and then just go all out on that motor instead of doing b20
