all motor LS plans and question
ok well let me start off by saying that im not trying to go crazy on this project, but id just like to have a little extra usable power without breaking my bank, because ive lost too much money already and now im just about having an overall nice car (im even putting the power steering pump back on the LS motor) that i can just drive untill i get out of school in a year, so its not a race car. and i dont really have any plans to do anything to the bottom end except a new timing belt and water pump
some of you may have read my last thread about shving my head a little when i replace my head gasket, so the plans for that still stand, but being that i have to buy cam gears and get the car tuned anyway i figured i might as well buy cams too. so right now im thinking about buying crower stage 1's but i have some questions first.
-will it be safe to use my stock valvetrain im pretty sure i can get away with it because its a pretty mild cam.
-will i have sufficient piston to valve clearence?
-and roughly, what will my redline be if i go with this setup, being that i have an ECU with a skunk 2 program and i have no revlimiter (im assuming its gonna be lower than stock)
-also will i be able to get enough fuel out of my stock injectors?
thnaks

With those cams you can probably use your stock valve train, but I would replace it if it were me, I wouldnt wanna take any chances with dropping valves.
Your piston to valve clearance will be fine
Your redline should go up due to the fact that with cams with more lift and duration move your power band window up the RPM range. I dont suggest revving anything over stock if you dont plan on upgrading your valvetrain.
Your stock injectors will work perfectly fine with stage ones, I am going to be using stage 2s and I will be useing stock injectors, and an SAFC
Cam gears are a good thing. Good luck!

I'm currently running an allmotor B20. Damn near the same thing you are running.
I put a new head on with full p@p, 3 angle valve job, and port matched both sides. I'm running 404's with dual springs and stock valves and retainers. I also milled 35
thousands off the head. That put's me about 9.6 comp. That's a rough estimate. I also am running skunk2 IM. I'm also running stock injectors. Now I'm happy with the way my car responds, but now I want more. Maybe it's just the honda guy in me. Now the set up that you are looking to have sounds nice and it shouldn't be that expensive. All I'm trying to say is, make sure this is what you want. I'm not trying to tell you how to spend your money, I'm just saying that I just spent all this money on mine and now I want more. Go ****** figure. I HATE THIS HOBBY!!!

thanks for the responces, do you think this is even worth my time, or should i just go all out an buy a b16 longblock and use the head, and rods?
i already have 2 sets of GSR pistons laying in my garage, a gsr wiring harness, and GSR ECU. but that would involve a complete teardown of both motors (which ive done before), an a rebuild that ive never attempted. and that means more time driving my auto (yea i know) SOHC
decisions, decisions
