It was an alright race, but I've seen much better. At least there were no yellows. Of course being the moron I am, I wasn't paying attention when the move of the race occured, so I guess I'll never get to see what happened.

Thanks!
Thanks!
Oh come on, I really want to know what Andy Wallace and James Weaver's favorite movie quotes
Frankly, I don't give a damn ... "Jack ***" and "Gone with the Wind" - that's some polar picks
Irrespective, hella glad that CBS (even in HD) is covering the race, that's absolutely awesome (and a hell of a good day for racing on TV in general).

OMG, watching the CBS show is painful. I was there the last two days so I wanted to watch the race on TV but I had to turn it off as the program was sooo bad. During the actual start of the race, they were on an aerial shot and you could see that a car was slow but they missed it and switched to a ground camera after the green flew. The top P1 and P2 cars are gone before the second turn but they missed much of it. Sheheen and Adam are just flapping jaws to fill TV time and missing telling the viewer what is going on. The "What is your favorite movie" thing was embarassing for all involved.
The Dyson car passes the Audi for the lead but they miss it until a half lap later while blabbing about other cars they notice that that there was an overall lead change. Later when coming back fom the comercial, they show the Panoz with tape on it's nose and say they had trouble. They then play an interview with the Panoz driver (showing "Out of Race" which was obviously not true) who complains about being hit and you see them piecing the nose together with tape. Adam and Sheneen blab on about "I hope they can get back out" while we have already seen them racing live after the repairs. The helicopter camera is an interesting view but they used it too much making hilly Mid-Ohio look like it's flat.
Obviously ALMS and Don Panoz spent big money buying the broadcast time on CBS to show their race (did you see how many times they are running the Panoz street car ad?) but they are getting a clueless and crappy broadcast for their money. Having just watched the Speed programs of the World Challenge races, the show production and on-air talent is so much better then this CBS show. I worked in TV/video production and did live broadcasts before so maybe I am overly critical but it was so painful that I had to turn it off.
At least the NASCAR race from Infineon/Sears Point will be on soon. My favorite Cup race of the year.

As crappy as the show is, the foot cam is very cool.
Romain Dumas in the Porsche RSR, very cool.
I know Johnny O'Connell's favorite vacation spots too. That's good info right there!
Lambo looks great. Huge smokey flamming exhaust.

The World Challenge GT race was awesome. Very eventful, even if there wasn't much action up front.
I saw Spec Miata for the first time today. It was an entertaining race, but for all the wrong reasons. Cars piling up before turn 1, a guy slid off course could've very well plowed into 4 cars but managed to avoid them, only to swerve into the tire wall and then get rear ended. Pretty much every car that wrecked drove off though, those things are like tanks. Jason Saini was as high as third in the closing stages when he was spun off in the keyhole.
ALMS race sucked. Don Panoz is an idiot and is killing sports car racing in America. What is it with road racers and not being able to see the big picture when it comes to racing and business? My friend Ryan Eversley got second in LMP2, which isn't bad when you consider its his first ALMS race (only previous racing experience was some F Mazda and a Grand-Am cup race), they barely got any laps in all weekend. Very low budget team, he got the drive because hes been crewing for various sports car teams over the past three years and this was a bit of a payback for him. Hes only 20 years old, too.

How did H-Ter James Evans do in the black #5 JE car?

It's been like that for the 25+ years that I've been paying attention. It's no different really than golf properties, yachts, or any other self-indulgent activity undertaken by people with more money than sense.
Their egos are so huge, they MUST have someone to compete with and there is a powerful motivation to be in control. There's also a degree of exclusivity involved: If a road racing series were a true commercial success, who knows what kind of riff-raff would show up, so they prefer a game rigged to be accessible to people SPENDING money rather than MAKING money.
Say what you want about the Frances and Georges of the world but they understand that they don't make anything if others can't.

I think he was around the top 10 during the race. Didn't realize hes an H-T member, but then again I tend not to pay as much attention here as I should since I don't race a Honda!
I guess it could also mean that he had a clean race because I tend to remember the cars that were involved in incidents. Oh yeah, and that N. Coello guy just CHECKED OUT. Easily over 20+ second margin of victory.

Tony George? He is probably worse than any of them!
I guess being someone who has huge aspirations to become a race car driver but is budget limited to local autocross in my year-round daily driver, I'm a bit biased. I hate the exclusivity. But you'd think there would come a point where the people involved in the sport would notice how many competitors come and go every few months/years/etc. because of money reasons and eventually try and change things. Its frustrating because we have the coolest sport in the world (if it wasn't then why would someone which great taste in entertainment such as me be watching it?
) but it goes virtually unnoticed.
All I know is that I'd love to be racing against huge fields of paid professional drivers in fully sponsored race cars in front of huge crowds of fans (especially hot female ones!!). I wonder why no other bazillionaire racers have had this idea? Maybe someone should try and bring up the fact that pushing for a bigger fan base would mean that there'd be an increase of hot pit groupies to choose from.
