Is the remote control under the warranty repair?
Hi, All,
The keyless entry remote control forfor my accord LX is not working now. The dealer checked and said the module needed to be replaced. Does anyone know if the remote control is under the warranty? Of course the dealer said it's not.
If not, is it possible to replace it by yourself?
Thanks

It's a open-end argument..some dealer will take care of the warranty if the system was installed by their mechanic, some dealer will cheap out and send you to deal with honda's warranty instead.
well, try to talk them out for deal, if the little module is dead, might as well ditch the whole thing and get something aftermarket. for the same price you'll get more stuff.
but that just my opinion

I think that the dealership usually should fix that for you, usually all they do is take your unit, replace it with another and then send your original piece back as a defective part and get a credit for it. Unless of course you get one of those stickler guys who doesnt want to do anything for you without seeing your wallet, i hate those guys, but yea, it shouldnt be a problem, where do you live? perhaps i can ask a friend and find out which dealership could help?
Thanks for the help. I live in Clinton, NJ. The dealer is Clinton Honda. They told me the module needs to be replaced and would cost me $175. By the way, is the module in the car or in the remote control? Maybe I can just buy a keyless remote for http://www.keylessride.com and reprogram it.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!

If it is a factory keyless system my dealership covers it under the 3yr 36000 mile warranty, some dealerships do install aftermarket keyless and alarm systems which they will usually not warranty.
