its 36 a month!

thats almost 400 a year for service!!

I have a unit that retails for 499.00 and the monthly is as low as 5 bucks a month. you can get of course more access to your system, some people (most) dont use it all the time till the day its needed to be used, and paying 400 a year is a lot of money.

pm me if your interested. you can check it out at http://www.microtrakgps.com

a dollar a day for your security? with the added cost of running the system and up keep, salaries, etc, maybe not worth it but I would think it is

would you pay a dollar a day to see where your car might be?

check out some other products before buying (GPS or cellular services or whatever )
-aoib0t, who just sees the other side too :B

If I were you, I'd skip GPS all together and get Boomerang. It uses GSM technology which does not need to communicate with a satellite. There are SO many restrictions with GPS. $400 a year is EXPENSIVE! Boomerang charges $349 for lifetime which is forever and ever. I would rather do that.

Check out their website http://www.boomerangtracking.us

or ask me, I know a lot about it. I have one.

i've just completely read both the microtrakgps and boomerang websites. very interesting. both seem similar however the boomerang device has a tracking team that goes to find your vehicle? this seems too good to be true. with so many vehicles stolen, how many people to they have to hire to find each and everyone of them? and do they have tracking team locations in each state? if not wouldn't it take a long time for them to get to your vehicle??

these questions are for soodeprived. and maybe bigblock can back up his gps system.

i'm very interested in both. I've had three cars stolen within 2 years time. a 93 toyota supra tt, 00 acura type r, and a 1999 honda civic si (this one was stolen in broad daylight)
and now down to a lowly civic hatch, however modded which would look very good to thieves. I've already got a Clifford alarm but my faith in it is not that high.

thanks for any info.

They have not opened up to other states yet. This will be happening soon. It's just like the Scion cars that come out start in california, move to other cities

GPS is a great layer I think. I wouldn't mind paying $1 a day to make sure your car is safe. If one were to use Clifford's black jax system in conjuntion with GPS, it can help

-aoib0t, who knows all thieves will pay

racin-type: It's true though. I don't know how many people they have in each state but I know they have complete coverage including Mexico. I live about 4 hours away from the border so that is one of my concerns. One of their sayings is 'gone in 60 seconds, back in 60 minutes.'
I had a boss that worked for Clifford and they did a demo on TV and it failed. Oops! That sucks! It definitely doesn't hurt to have it though!
I'm not completely knocking the GPS systems but I would rather use something that I know works. After reading a bunch of stuff on GPS, it seems like it's more of a navigational tool...

AoiGSR: It's all about supply and demand . Layered security is definitely the way.

NY isn't THAT bad for auto theft.

this GPS unit looks decent. to some people, $36/month isn't that bad for added security to protect their investment.

racin-type: Anytime. Good luck, if I hear anything, I will post it.

sparkplugs: just remember the difference between GPS and GSM. Good luck to you too!
