CEL and CA smog check
I have a 92si, the check engine light is on and I need to smog my car. Is it true that the car will not pass if the CEL is on? Can I just put a peice of black tape where the light is so they dont see it, or does it come up in their computers?
You could reset the comp and hope it stays off until you get it smogged...
You can do it by taking the Clock/Radio Fuse out of your fuse box under the hood for about 5 mins I think....
Then it should reset everything, if you get the code again right away again it's obviously something that you are going to need to fix before you get it smogged.
So I would try taking the fuse out now to test it and see how long the cel stays off, and then if it stays long enough off like that, I would then reset it again before I go to the smog place.
Oh yeah....and don't go there like that with the Cel on because some people don't tell you anything and then they be like "oh yea you passed everything except the check light is on" so then you'll have to retest again....Just talking from experience
Good Luck
