Default what am i doing wrong with replacing my front brakes????

i am trying to replace my front brake pads in my 88 crx si, the go in fine, but then there is no way in hell they will fit over the rotor. i loosend the bolt on the bottom of the caliper, what else do i have to do???

You need to push the caliper piston in so the caliper can fit over your pads.

^Yes get a C clamp use one of the old brake pads put it over the piston then put the clamp around the pad and backside of the caliper and tighten the clamp this will push the piston in further and will allow enough room to slide the new pads on.

screw that...a pair of channel locks will work perfect, these are more commonly found around the garage than a c-clamp...the channel locks are also alot faster and easier. One squeeze and the piston is in... If i woulda cut out the bullshit when i did my front brakes this weekend it would have takin me 20 minutes from the time i jacked the car up to when the wheels touched back down.

I use Channel Locks at work since its faster but they cost like $35 for the giant pair. If you only a need a tool for this like once in a couple years just get a c-clamp, they work fine.
