H22 Series JDM Valve Cover Scam
[Not sure if this is the right place for this... but...]
Well,
You know what they say, if it's too good to be true... it probably is.
So, I did an EBay search for an H22 valve cover... Preferably Red... and found one.
Amazingly, it had a buy now price of $95.00! So I just purchased it and got it over.
The thing get's here and it turns out to be a knock off counterfit item. Moreover, it's a CRAPPY knock off counterfit item!!
Here is the auction:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...33627
Notice how carefully worded the description is... Obviously, they make no attempt to warn you that it's actually a knock off. Clearly, they are looking for someone like myself who will fall for it.
The seller's information is:
Seller's Name: jeff lee
Seller's Email: paypal@tuningdepot.com
The entity selling this crap is: tuning depot
I've reported them to paypal, and EBay...
...and since I used American Express... I considering seeing what evil they will unleash against a vendor selling counterfit products.
The seller did indicate they'd take it back for a 30% "restocking" fee... more like a "this is how we make money on our illegal goods" fee.
Maybe I sue them in small claims court and get a court order for PayPal / Ebay to give me the person's address, then forward the contact information to Honda... You never know just what they may or may not do...
Nuts.
DON'T BUY FROM TUNING DEPOT!

Sorry to hear about your expereince but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for". Not only that, in the description, it says that it is a JDM STYLE cover. That means it is not real. Not only that, he has a 99% positive seller rating after over 1500 transactions.
Anyway, good luck seeking a remedy to your situation.

Sorry to hear it, but if you are still looking, I have a GENUINE, TRUE 100% NEW JDM red Valve cover for an H22. Yes I said it NEW 100%. Looking for $175 shipped to 48 via CC or MO (paypal is fine, buyer adds 3% or $180.25 shipped) Email me @ Spocko_1701a@yahoo.com I will take a picture of it if you want and email it to you if interested (it is @ my brother's garage where I store my Lude > I can get a picture of it Sunday evening).
I dont know about you, but everthing on that page made it known to myself that it was a jdm style valve cover. Come on it also said type r... didnt say anything about jdm prelude type-s or euro R accord anywhere on the page. Idk it was obvious as hell to me
Folks,
While it might be obvious to some that it's a knock off, at a glance it looks like a really Honda valve cover.
v4lu3s: Ahhhh, clearly you have a superior intellect. The rest of us are not worthy. I'm sure all of us have every Japanese version of every Honda / Acura vehicle memorized. Right? Chill...
Anyway, I can tell you all that the copy is fairly inferior. They clearly took a Honda oem valce cover, made a mold, and then began casting.
The problem is that their casting doesn't include the excess metal that Honda would normally have to machine and clean up in their oem production process.
So, any area requiring some form of cleaning or polishing is effective OVER polished so that it's out of spec. The gromet holes are over sized, the VTEC and DOHC logos are rounded and worn, there is paint spray on the gasket track (may cause it to leak), and the baffel on the underside/inside or the cover is poorly riveted to the cover itself and held on with RTV!
So it's also a POOR illegal knock.
Yeah, I go taken. Yeah, I was think Type S Prelude... not paying attention to Type R (but, honestly, how the hell do I know if there is a Type R Prelude or not in Japan?)
I'm more interested in making sure that everyone who is not as superior as v4lu3s does not make the same mistake I did.

hindsight is 20/20 people. Of course you can see it easily, cause you know what to look for cause everyone else is saying it. Give the guy a break. He is just trying to warn other people that may fall into the same trap.
Can someone tell me the difference between a JDM valvecover and non-JDM valvecovers? I just don't see it? (well, besides the red crinkle paint, which you can do yourself for $10)

i'm with them, you got what you ordered. It may not be what you wanted, but that's your fault and not the seller's.

You didn't get scammed. The seller states everything in that auction. It's not his fault you bought it. Also when someone sells something "as is" but is brand new you should get a hint that it may not be a very good piece.
What do you expect? You are buying something from ebay where everything is listed as JDM. It's unbelievable how many people buy cheap **** off of that site.
