Default Eibach springs need proper absorbers

I have a 1990 EF 2door and it is currently running on 15" rims and Eibach springs.
I was told by the local Eibach agent that there were 2 choices of Eibach springs for me...one that offered minimal lowering
and another type that offered a lowered look. I went for the 1st version. I was also told that it can be used with stock shocks.

It's been a year now, and I still feel that although the car is very stable in high speed cornering on smooth roads, the ride is
atrocious on bad roads. Any ripple, protruding or recessed manhole covers, or any kind of road irregularity that does not bother
most stock Japanese vehicles actually jarrs the occupants in my Civic. The slightest imperfection is transmitted very clearly to the cabin and it feels as though the car has no springs!!!!!!!

Pls confirm my theory:
The stock shocks cannot control the movement of the harder Eibach springs and therefore, over bumps and irregularities, the
car pitches and feels unstable as I'm feeling the undamped motion of the springs. Changing to a matching absorber could
control the spring better and therefore, result in a much controlled ride. Pls advise.

Which aftermarket shocks are the best partners to Eibach springs if I'm looking to retain as much comfort as possible?

Also, my next worry are the headlights. In my Civic, each headlight unit is actually composed of 2 light units (1 low beam which is slightly rectangular, and a high beam which is squarish). In other Civics, the high and low beams are combined as 1 rectangular light unit.

When I look at the headlight (switched off), I notice that wthe low beam unit seems to lack the "sparkle" of the seldom used highbeam. It seems to me that the internal reflector has actually lost its reflectivity/lustre and therrfore, the low beam unit seems to hv a dark look to it. Somehow, this also affects light output as I can hardly use my PIAA Super Plasmas as the light output is so low. Is this a common fault in EF Civics??? Has anyone experienced it?

Thanks.

Face it ,your shocks are 11 years old they retired a long time ago. I would go with a Tokico blue with those springs as they are pretty cheap and can handle those springs no prob. Also Koni Red(non adjustable) and KYB non adjustable are good choices.I would go with which ever is cheaper as they can all handle those springs and are good stuff.

Hey I have Eibach springs and Tokico blue's. I just installed them 2 weeks ago. Problem is my rear, driver-side is lower than the rest of the car. The drop calls for 1.2" lower up front and 1.0" in back, but that's not the way it worked out. My rear driver's side wheel has less than a "two-finger" gap while all the other's have at least a two-finger gap. This really pisses me off and makes the car look weird from the driver's side.

Could I have mixed up the driver's side springs and installed the front on the back and vice-versa? The passenger side of the car looks correct with the rear slightly higher than the front. The thing that worries me is that the rear driverside wheel has the least amount of gap of ANY of the wheels.

Could there be something else wrong other than the springs? Assuming the springs are installed correctly, what could cause the car to be so low in back?

the best way to tell if your shocks arent working is by taking a corner at kind of a high speed, and make sure there are at least small bumps on the road. if the car wants to "bounce" outward from the curve, then the shocks are bad. i used to notice this the most on cloverleafs where if i went too fast, the car would practically skid towards the outside of the curve. then i replaced my stock shocks with KYB AGX shocks and they've worked great so far. i've had them for over a year with the eibach pro kit springs. i dont know if this helps. i will tell you that i've heard of tons of happy people including myself that are using the eibach-agx combo.
