tinting integras
I just tinted my '01 integra. Before I did it, the guy told me that the dot matrix in the back window would cause the tint to not tint and maybe be irregular lookin/shapes or something. So i got my car back and the back looks like its all tinted except for the dot matrix top part. How are your guys' back windshield?
There is no way to get the tint to properly stick to the dots. Some tinters will tint right over them, and this often produces the irregular look you spoke of. Others will simply tint up to the dots, and leave them un-tinted. Still others will suggest painting over them from the inside, putting black or colored vinyl over them, or sanding them down to allow the tint to adhere better. It shouldn't be difficult to tell whether your tinter tinted over the dots or left them exposed.

Any chance we could get some pics? I'm about to get mine tinted, and I want to see what the different options look like, because I don't want to just tint up to the dots and not touch them...

Yea i did some research on the web after my post and found that black vinyl would be best. Now the question is where to get the black vinyl. For those of you that have done this, did u get black transparent vinyl? and did u get it where it has a tape-ing on one side or did u use something else to tape the vinyl on? Thanks

these are pics of my tint, and i'm actually rather pleased with how well my tint came out on the dot matrix.... its actually alot better than the pictures makes out. I had my tint guy sand down the matrix a little bit before applying the tint.. .and we actually spent some time doing test samples with different company tint materials to find which one adhered the best. here are the pics...

If ur in so cal... and u want the tint guys info let me kno.

many places will do the tint differently, some will cut it before the dots, some will apply over and have it look ugly, some will recommend and apply vinyl sticker overr it on the outside... but nothing looks as good as if the tint stuck to the dots. Which is why i had my guy do watever it took to make it stick better. Plus, if you use the vinyl, after a while, the vinyl will dull a little and after a nice wash, when you car should sparkle... your glass will look shiny but in contrast the sticker won't. SO that makes it more noticable.
