Default Staying single (SOHC)

I what to keep my 90 f22a1 motor but i will like to drop a 5 gen head for the Vtec that my car lacks. F22 vtec head i heard will drop in on the f22 block i want to know what you guys think is the best head swap will be. I heard that a h22 head will fit but might do damage to the stock tranny i also have a prelude p13 ecu on the way for it so the wiring for the vtec is not that big of a problem my plan is to go with a dry shot (bottle) in the future so i what to know if anyone has doen this before and if they have any idea or better ways of doing this head swap

For the 10hp at the crank it is not really worth it IMO, unless you plan on going turbo, but for the time, effort and money I would just do a f22b JDM it is DOHC and its rated 160 at the crank. It can be had for around 800 bucks shipped. If you are just wanting vtec there is no real 'quick fix' . You also need to look at how your current f22 is.

A f22b1 head should cost around 200-300 dollars (guess) and then you need a new ecu (or modified) wire for vtec, knock, oil pressure etc etc.

Miles?
Compression?
etc etc.

if you plan on building the motor keep the f22a it has better port geometries (that's what "they" say)

i say you get the bottle...use it till your sohc blows, then you could get a dohc f22b, or, if you really want a VTAK look until you come across a steal of a deal get a f22b1 VTAK(can be had for 300-400 after h swaps some people just want them gone, you gotta look)

a p13 ecu won't work with any f22 vtec motor...

for the same amount of money that it would cost you to swap the head and get nitrous, you could do the dsm turbo thing with junkyard parts for less than $1000...it will yield much better power gains too...
