The Type R flywheels are lighter, and I believe there maybe a few various odds and ends that are different with some of the older flywheels, however I'm not completely sure.

i have the type r flywheel in my ls. it is 15lbs instead of 18lbs which is roughly how much the ls and gsr flywheels are, along with the b16's. they will all fit though.
