JDM b16a to us wiring.
whats up. i just got my motor today and they sent me a jdm b16a. im happy but i need to know what i need to do for wiring. any info would be appreciated
Use a USDM wiring harness from your vehicle. JDM wiring harnesses are worthless really since they are designed for right hand drivers. Everything is the reverse. If you have a civic Ex, use the stock wiring harness. All other models, use the stock harness but you will have to run additional wires. (i.e VTEC)
um sooo i need to rewire every wire then? same color code correct?
e.g. jdm red w/ black stripe is red with black stripe on usdm
can anyone confirm this?

no everything will not be correct. there is a 2nd O2 censor that needs to be install with the knock sensor, vtec selonoid, and oil pressure. i for got where the site that contains the diagram for your car.
no no no i know i need to add wires like my knock sensor etc but for rewiring the JDM harness to my own harness do all the wires match correctly? is it just a matter of cutting them and then attaching to my harness?

ok finally some help!
good thats what i needed. just for verification
1)cut both connecting ends off harness (from engine to ecu side) on engines
2)match wires from JDM engine to origional harness
3) add wires (stock harness has spot for these i assume just blank connectors)
4) pray.
thanks to everyone. im not swapping yet but im trying to get all my information taken care of so i know what im doing going into this in a few weeks.
Note: any diagrams would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks again

Do not use the JDM harness at all. You only need a couple plugs. Take your US harness off your old motor. Plug in all of the sensors that will fit. Make sure you know what your doing though. Then after that is done, use the plugs off the JDM harness for the vtec, and knock sensor and extend the wires to your ecu. You could loom it through your factory harness, but thats up to you. Its pretty simple really. As long as you have an Si with the factory resistor box. If not, then it gets much more complicated (this is for 88-91 cars). If your car is newer, dont worry about it.
so once again for verification
i know im being a pain in the *** but this is somewhat important
1) pull all wires from jdm harness (yank the little rubber stopper things)
2) pull all wires from stock harness
3)put jdm wires where stock wires went
4)run knock sensor
5) pray.
correct?

Forget the JDM wiring! Your stock EX harness/plugs will plug into the JDM motor. You don't have to pull any wires out of there plugs. What's a knock sensor? hehe
You don't need to run a VTEC wire...your car already has the VTEC wire. That motor shouldn't have a knock sensor either.

so it IS plug and play!!?

first off...
what year is your car & what type of B16A did you buy -- hydro or cable tranny type?
like everyone is saying - don't bother trying to make the JDM engine harness work in your car. It's only useful for plugs and/or extra wiring. Reuse your US engine harness and add the vtec wires & knock sensor wire. If you own an 88-91 Si, life will be easy on you, but if you own an 88-91 non-Si then you're gonna have some hellish wiring fun..
92+ civics are a breeze though..
lol
yea katman its a 2nd gen b16a going into my 5g civic.
im 99% sure i have the wiring right
everything looks backwards cause the plugs are mounted on the other side then twisted
they should fit perfect....
im gonna go verify it today. along with THIS DAMN PROBLEM https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=95370

you should just reuse your EX harness - you won't have to wire anything up, well the knock sensor you will - but if you plan on getting your ECU reprogrammed with the infamous Mugen/disabled knock sensor program - you can just leave the KS unwired, unless your the **** type that has to have everything wired up - even if it doesn't have to be..
That blue thing that fell out of your injector is a filter-screen thingy to catch any big chunks of dirt that might get through your fuel system and make its way to your injectors. You can take the filter out of your SOHC injectors and use them on a B-series injector...no biggy. In fact, we use to take those filters out back in my ZC days to get a bit more fuel to the engine....hehe...dunno if it really did anything besides let dirt pass through the injector, though.

hehe thanks again katman your my new hero.
when you say use ex harness you mean the ECU side of the harness not the engine one correct?
the injector thing, i am gonna yank one from my d series motor i found that out about a half hour ago
and im more worried if it will start not if i will throw a code so the KS will wait a day or 2 after the swap
thanks to everyone!
ill keep u all posted.

it will plug n' play onto the b16a engine's sensors/electrical parts.
good luck..
oh you mean yank the plugs from the jdm harness
i got it.
i might do that. but it looks like my JDM harness will match up perfectly to my stock one

...... go ahead and try the jdm harness if you want... you'll learn.
anyways you have your EX harness to fall back on if all else fails with the jdm harness...
