OK I'm sure this is going to show my ignorance but hey, everyone has to start somewhere.

I recently purchased a 97 prelude, before I bought it, the kid ended up parting out everything but the CF Hood, great I thought, its a start...

But now its got a dullness to it, its kind of hard to describe but I'm sure those of you in the 'know' , know what I'm talking about, its like the clear coat or wax or something is worn off. thats the best I can describe it

Is the hood shot or is there something I can do to make it look decent, because right now its starting to look like crap.

 

try waxing it. If it still looks like junk then he probably bought a junk CF hood.

 

clearcoat might be gone

 

take it to a bodyshop and have them throw on another layer of clear coat on it

 

try buffing it out with some rubbing compound

 

It can be fixed with a buffer and some compound. Happened to mine. If it keeps occurring after, then have it recleared.

 

thanks, I'll try getting it buffed. I need to get my car done anyways, this is just a little more incentive
