Default OBD2 to OBD0 Conversion

Hey I'm in a pinch, I've searched the threads, some say it can be done some say it can't. I would go out and buy an OBD 0 dizzy but I need it before the races up at MIR this weekend.

So to my question:

Can the following conversion be done?

OBD2 dizzy, converted to OBD0?

I don't think it can, but I'm not an expert in this field so I wanted to pass it by you guys/gals. I looked at the wires, they all seem to be color coded identically. So I figure you could just splice the harness from the CRX Dizzy on the the OBD2 dizzy and it would be all gravy. But the internals seem a bit different and I read somewhere it has variant pulse rates between the OBD2 and OBD0. You'll throw a CEL and the car will run like crap. But again, I'm not an expert so I'm asking you all.

Details:

Dizzy is going on a JDM B16A into a 91 CRX SI with PR3 OBD0 ECU.

Any help on this matter would be great.

Thanks!

The reluctors inside the OBD2 distributor are divided into 24 segments which is what the OBD1 and OBD2 ECUs are looking for: 24 pulses per 2 crank revolutions (crank turns double the speed of the cam/distributor). The OBD0 distributor's reluctors only have 16 segments, so the OBD0 ECU looks for 16 pulses per 2 crank revolutions. If the OBD0 ECU sees 24 pulses, it'll think the crank has turned 1080 degrees (3 turns), when in actual fact, the crank will only have turned 720 degrees (2 revolutions). This would make for really bad ignition timing and fueling, were it not for the fact that the ECU recognises that something is wrong, and throws a check engine light.

Thanks man for giving me the technical aspect of the answer. It really clears things up. Big ups!
