Default THIS IS IT! 18 inch jl audio w6!

im getting one for a STEAL! and hopefully i can get the second he has!

but they are dual 6ohm coil??

so at first my amp will be at 3ohm (about 500-600rms) then with another at 1.5 ohm, asbout 900, good enough for these suckers???

900 will move them but it isn't near enough.
Let's put it this way...we put two in a half-wall in an extended cab S-10 ported about maybe 2 years ago? ~1500 W RMS per sub, and they still aren't completely broken in yet.

I had a pair of 15w6's for four years with about 700-800 W RMS per sub, and the suspensions were still tight as hell when I sold them.

If you can get ahold of two of them...go for it. I'm still yet to see someone blow a 15 or 18 w6...

I had about 1,200rms running the two 12w6's I used to have, so I doubt 900 will be enough for 2 18w6's.

wait a minute - perhaps everyone should get a bit of a grip on reality here.

A larger sub is more efficient then its smaller counterpart - therefore, the 18"s with 900W will be loud enough. Could they handle more power - sure, but do you need it - no ******* way...

you should be deaf in no time!

That might be fine on paper, but in my experience larger subs almost always want more power.

Besides, this is bassislife we are talking about here. He doesn't just want loud bass, he wants to set off car alarms from 50 miles away.

dude - it's physics.....it's a fact that a larger sub with the same power will get louder then a smaller one...

There are other variables, such as motor weight, to consider.

Let me say what I should have said in the beginning. The 900 watts will probably sound fine, but you will be MUCH happier with more power. How's that?

Bassislife, your current amp will be fine, but if you want optimal sound, save up for more power.

im thinking of trying to get another 1100D as they run in slave mode

hmmm 2 1100Ds at 1.5 ohms, that'd be about 2000 rms

but i think after i get one of the 18s to begin with, put it on the amp at 3ohm

id be more than satisfied

larger sub will always be louder (assuming same motor) unless the larger sub has a rediculously heavy coil assembly (most of the time, not too much of an increase)

[insidejoke]but only if it's in a 6 cubic foot ported box - but you guys are all probably scared of that - so never mind[/insidejoke]

either you will get that one, or you won't...carry on

like I said it's an inside joke...

Manville Smith of JL Audio said it was because of too much moving mass IIRC, so it's not recommended that you go ported - plus the box would be HUGE I would gather....a search over at carsound would clear that reason up, athough that thread could have gone bye-bye with the last cleanup they did.

6 cubes, where is the real box.

The larger sub will always be louder for "real bass". The advantage of the larger sub may not be apparent in spl comps since the note is fairly high.

Who was the guy that hit 160db at 30hz with 4 15's I am sure he can talk about the advantages of sd.

wtf do you need an 18 for?! 12" subs 0wnz j00. stick to the simplistics. 18s are a waste of time and money. 12w6v2 in a small sealed box owns. loud, precise, smooth bass.
