I'm pretty sure its my clutch going but just want to make sure........when i shift normal (3500-4g) everything grabs fine have no problems at all. When i run it hard and shift quick, (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th), it sounds like my car is running normal but its going no where. Its not like stepping on the gas when its in nuetral. I have to let the rpms drop down to like 4g then it grabs and goes, but if i step on the gas hard it happens again. Also just recently if i'm in 3rd, if i touch the shift **** at all it pops out of gear foot on clutch or not. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like it... what year is your civic. How many miles since clutch was changed? I had a friend with a 93 civic with 240k on it clutch was never changed... I had to almost redline to get it moving from stop in first.

 

Well the part of about you having to wait for it to "grab" sounds like a clutch, and the part about your gears poping out sounds like a synchro problem maybe. So to answer your question, clutch and trans problem

 

Thats exactly what i figured..i mean the popping out of 3rd really isn't that serious....so its mostly the clutch.....i just didn't want to go and replace the clutch and find out its the tranny. The car has 79,0xx on it..i've only had the car for a bout a year and a half, got it with 54,000 on it and its a 97. Not sure if the clutch was replaced before i bought the car.

 

i think u need a new clutch...
