little help with car audio
so i just bought a car and it came with a jvc KD-G300 head unit that is almost brand new. i'm not a big audio fanatic , but i have a pretty good set of cans i use for my computer (sennheiser hd280pro) , so i know what good sound is. i had some bestbuy gift cards so i went and picked up the most shallow speakers that i could find that also sounded pretty good. i needed shallow so i could get them to fit in the door without hitting the window. the speakers i got were the pioneer TS-A1670R's. I was going to get the kenwood KFC-1679ie's but the display models werent working and the pioneers are a bit shallower.
my head unit is 19rms and the speakers are 35rms , so i cant really turn them up loud without them sounding crappy. im not an audio buff , so i dont know what i need to make them sound better. im assuming some sort of amplifer. any help would be appreciated.

19 watts should drive those speakers pretty good if they are installed and wired properly. that said ,you are better off over powered then under powered
A 2x25 or 35 watt amp would be all you need,
hope this helps.

how would they be wires incorrectly? there is only a negative and positve wire to solder , and then butt connectors to the speakers. it sounds pretty good , but i get distortion if i go past 20 on my volume , and it doesnt sound as clear as they did in the store.

Well mixing up the pos. and neg. is how you would miswire the speakers[ out of phase]
Sounds to me that you don't think thats the problem,so how about the speaker mounting , are they mounted to a flat surface, do you have a airtight seal between the front and back of the speaker,if so, I would say you need the amp.94

i dont think i miswired them because the one wire had a black stripe on it and i made sure it was the - in the manual. when i tested them i didnt have them mounted correctly because i need to fab some brackets, but i still think they are underpowered as the sound is not as clear as i would like at higher sound levels.
it was my first time soldering , but i practiced first and i did a nice job imho. could bad soldering cause a bad connection? i twisted the wires , then soldered , but on a couple i got a little too much solder on them.
