Default hf ecu on a d16y7

Will running a hf ecu on a civic with a 96 y7 motor make the motor run like ***

I have a hf running my car untill i can get a si and my car is making lots of noise and i dont no what it is also throwing a code 13 and i dont have a egr valve?

well thats why its throwing EGR valve, the ecu is expecting one

and yes, it will run like POOP. What dist are you using?

I have a pm6 but when i turn it over it floods my car with gas

So i am gonna pick up a pm6 tonight and hope it fixes my problem

The motor sounds like it is knocking and **** and i hope its from the ecu

Missing EGR won't make it run "that" bad. you can take it off your HF motor, plug it in and just let it hang there. you may have to run a vacuum line to it as well so it "works", but you won't need it one the intake manifold. That will clear your code.

You [b]need[/b[ the HF dizzy for the HF ECU.


You should seriously consider getting a PM6 ECU from a Civic/CRX Si. That will be a better match to your engine than what that economy HF ECU is.

like i said i am getting a new pm6 tonight but i was just wondering if the ecu could be causeing my problem with the knocking sound

your HF ecu is running your car to lean.... I did the same thing and it burned my valves in a week.... I'ld take it out as soon as possible...

ok i will not run it anymore till i get the pm6 but could it be from the hf ecu that its making noises right now?

if you have been running it you may have done damage already... the hf ecu has different fuel maps than the pm6... you may have burnt your valves... what color are your spark plugs?

Yes it is.

But - the D16Y7 dizzy is not... he has the Y7 engine.

yes i have a y7 motor but this is in a civic hatch
91 dx that has been wired for mpfi im using a si dizzy and i was using a pm6 computer but it fried and all i had was the hf

Looks like your going to need to get another pm6 ecu.. The pm8 hf one just wont work properly..
