Car starts to shake when not moving and then shuts off . (Please help)
Hey hows it going out there, i have a little problem i hope someone can help me with. i have a 97 Honda civic Dx and when stand at a red light or standing still anywhere the car sometime start to shake and then it turns off. When driving it's not a problem because the car is fine. my guess i think, it might have to do something with the gas, because the way it sounds it's like the engine is not getting enough gas at that momment u have to reave the car so it won't turn off on me, this only happen once in a blue. Please can someone that really knows about cars(civics) can help me with this, what do you think it can be. and oh yeah it's manuel transmission.
If your RPM's are erratic, then you have an idling issue. Idle Air Control valve, fast idle valve tend to be the culprite. Though I've heard of hondas not idling properly due to air in the coolant. I makes these comments based on the assumption that your car is properly maintained, i.e. performing scheduled maintenance.
So you're saying that it'll misfire a few times and stall.. What I'd do is try to duplicate the situation. Then after it starts stalling, I would remove the intake tube and clean out the throttle body and try to get it to stall again. And if it does stall, I would then wait for it to start misfiring while holding a can of carb cleaner in one hand. Once it starts to misfire, I'd spray the carb cleaner into the throttle body. If the misfire stops, I'd say the misfire is due to lack of fuel at idle and diagnose from there..
Whatever you do, have fun..
