Default vis carbon fiber hatch for crx

hi. i am going to be purchasing a carbon fiber hatch for my rex soon.

i was wondering if neone on here has one or knows someone else that has one. was lookin for pics or any known headaches with installation.

i think im gonna put lexan in the cf hatch instead of the stock glass, since i am getting it for weight reduction after all. anyone have any opinions, first hand or otherwise?

thanks.

Only drawback with Lexan is scratches.

Yup, but that's your best bet. I heard that if you put the glass on it it doesn't look that stable it looks flimsy as if it were going to break.

I sat and thought about that hatch for a while....and I decided I hate it.

It is carbon fibre to save weight. But it forces you to install a wiper, wich you cannot use, because the hatch doesn't support glass, and lexan scratches.

...nice.

AFAIK, seibon make a crx carbon fiber hatch, and you can get it without the wiper hole. MMR also sells a lightweight fiberglass hatch that doesn't have the wiper hole. I know its not c/f but its still light weight.

well there has to be some sort of rubber plug or something out there to put in it.

and ive never heard of this AFAIK thing. I would be worried about quality and fitment. unless somebody can prove otherwise.

AFAIK means As Far As I Know, lol, i just couldn't be bothered to type it out. Now I had to, and another whole sentece too. The company that makes them is called seibon. http://www.seibon.com
A friend of mine has one, and it looks/fits really well.

Fiberglass hatches go between $220 and $300. I'd assume carbon fiber ones then go for like..$400-$500? But i don't know. VIS and Seibon don't list prices.

don't forget, lexan doesn't have defrosters.

if i really wanted that. id have some custom shop just cf the rear lid part that u actully see and pretend it was cf.

its sick, but not worth it IMO.

I have seen the ViS one for the CRX and it came with the wiper hole, there was no option at the time my friend purchased his. He also reinstalled the glass too. Another friend of mine purchased the DA (90-93 teggy) ViS hatch and he also reused his OEM glass. So the hatch can support the glass, lexan is not a MUST.

Defrosters? When do you need a defroster on the track? Rubber plug? Huh?

I am always amazed at the info given on HT.
